June 2, 200521 yr Hello all!For some reason I get terrible texture swimming at my FlyTampa add-on airports. I am using a 6800GT, btw.I have tried everything to get rid of it. I tried mip levels at 8, 6, and 4. I tried everything from NO AF to 16xAF. I tried No FSAA and 6xFSAA. I tried changing the viewable distance. I tried changing the TMVL setting to 20 and 21. I tried changing the Default Terrain Radius to 9.5 and the Terrain Extended Radius to 4.5...still nothing. I even tried 4 different sets of drivers starting with the most recent and going backwards (each removed completely, CAB cleaned afterwards, etc..), now I am back with the latest driver set.Ack...I miss my FlyTampa scenery. IIRC, it worked great with my 9800XT video card but with my 6800GT the aforementioned issue occurs. Can somebody offer ANYTHING to help with this?? Thx to any and ALL who can assist me!!!!!!!!!!! June 2, 200521 yr maybe new drivers? have you rebuilt your fs9.cfg file after the video card change as well?
June 2, 200521 yr Author >maybe new drivers? have you rebuilt your fs9.cfg file after>the video card change as well?Yep, just did a fresh install of FS as well.Tried a bunch of different drivers and did all the steps to make sure each driver install was completely fresh. June 2, 200521 yr Its been a while since I've messed with an nvidia card... what about texture settings? ATI has texture quality and mipmap detail.
June 2, 200521 yr I had that problem, it was a FS9.cfg problem. rename yours, let FS rebuild it, take a look. Think its something to do with the entries for the graphics card.Failing that, return it and buy an X800 Pro :( :-lol Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
June 2, 200521 yr Author Rebuilding the config. didn't do anything. This issue is ONLY at my FlyTampa airports. Everything else looks great.I'm gonna have to pass on the X800 Pro. If I wanted one of those I would have just kept my 9800XT. :-lol Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
June 2, 200521 yr Maybe you could try one of the nVidia tweakers and adjust the LOD manually? It's been a while since I had a nVidia card, but I seem to remember that adjusting the LOD to -1.0 helped with that problem.
June 2, 200521 yr Why would you blame a video card, or display settings because some scenery textures aren't performing properly? If the rest of your FS world appears normal, wouldn't it make more sense to zero in on the add-on scenery? This sounds like an elevation conflict and chances are, it's to do with an adjacent add-on scenery of some description, or mesh terrain add-on; it may even require some adjusting of scenery priority within the Library.
June 2, 200521 yr Author >Why would you blame a video card, or display settings because>some scenery textures aren't performing properly? Because the only difference in my FS setup is the videocard.I think it may just be an Nvidia thing. I have tried everything and nothing seems to change it. The ATI never had these issues. Oh well, if there is a fix somewhere I'm sure I'll find it sooner or later. :) Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
June 3, 200521 yr It may be a long shot, but have checked to see if you have more than one AFCAD for the airport? I was having a similar problem, read about the AFCAD thing somewhere, and deleted several other AFCADS for the airport in question, keeping only FlyTampa's and the default. That cleared up my problem. It sounds weird, but worked for me.Tony

The originator of the thread insists it's a video card thing.

If everything is the EXACT same except for ONE factor and the situation is for some reason altered then it is completely logical to be speculative of that one factor.I hope to heck it isn't my video card...I love my 6800GT!Tony, thx for the tip, I'll check it out asap. I don't see how I have more then the default and possibly another AFCAD2 file installed but I'm willing to check out anything. You never know! Thx agian for your time and help everybody! June 3, 200521 yr Author I just tried the AFCAD suggestion and no-go. :(I even tried deleting ALL the afcads associated with the FT sceneries. I also tried a fresh FT scenery install as well and that din't work either.I'm going to test the Texture Clamp setting next, IIRC, that could have an effect as well on texture swimming at some airports. June 3, 200521 yr >>I'm going to test the Texture Clamp setting next, IIRC, that>could have an effect as well on texture swimming at some>airports.Oh, so does this now mean that the texture problem is happening at other airports, including default ones? If so, that changes things.

I thought I remembered a discussion a while back about somebody discussing the texture clamp setting and its effect on swimming textures but I just changed the setting and it didn't do anything. :(Do you have any ideas what other settings might effect this?
