Scenery Library Order Query

Recommended Posts

I'm currently installing the full set of Horizon GenX Photo scenery but I'm a little confused as to the correct order of items in the scenery library.

I was under the impression that 3D objects and airports should take priority, followed by scenery in descending order of detail, with the terrain mesh last.

But several volumes are putting the airports last and sometimes the night scenery below the terrain mesh.

What is the preferred order, please, or doesn't it matter?

Well, that's a month waiting and not even one view ! :(

Is there no one out there to help an old timer...

Sorry, all customer service reps are busy handling other questions. Please stay on the forums for the next available customer service rep. Your estimated wait time is... four months!

Otherwise, build it like a house. Mesh on the bottom, photo textures and then airports and objects.

These all do different things, so there should not be any conflicts.

Many thanks for your reply and making me laugh.

Clearly the GenX installer needs a few lessons in... well, installing !

So, next question, what are these "vectors" and where should they be positioned?

(I have tried Google, but got nowhere...)

Vectors are things like roads or taffic, coastlines or waterbodies. Another piece that does not really interact with the others. Me? I'd probably place above the photo and below objects/airports.

Many thanks but, after a Google session, my understanding is that vectors somehow alter the default scenery to allow the photoscenery to be displayed properly.

And the dreaded GenX installer places vectors below the terrain mesh layer !

Hence my continuing confusion...

Mesh priority doesn't matter, but I, too, would place vectors on top of the photoscenery, but below the airports.

The forum software will show zero views until you have received your first reply, even if hundreds of people had viewed your topic without replying. Such a nasty community around here!

Thanks Ollie, I think I've got it now.

Airports, photoscenery, mesh, vectors would seem to work.

Also thanks for the forum views explanation.

I was puzzled why I had no views for a month and then nearly 250 in last couple of days!

What a strange system...

Working order as follows:-

Eng/Wales Vol 1, 2 & 3  v3

06mPhoto

1.2mPhoto

2.4mNight

2.4mPhoto

Vectors......no Vectors in v2 only v3

4.8mMesh

Vol 4

06mNight

06mPhoto

4.8mMesh

Airports

Vol 5

Night

Photo Terrain

Scotland Vol 6, 7 & 8

05mPhoto

Airports

Vectors

5mDTM

Ireland Vol 9 & 10

10mMesh

Airports

1mPhoto

Vectors

I use an All In One (AIO) installation so there are only 20 Library entries for the "British Isles" if using version 3 of Volumes 1 to 3. (19  if using version 2)

Installing from the discs will give you many extra entries. Area 1, Area2 etc. They should depict  the same order as above however per Area.

Why is it like that?.....don't ask. You will only end up pulling your hair out.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

I find that totally illogical, but I won't ask as I have no hair to pull out !

Many thanks.
