Aerosoft US Cities Chicago

Recommended Posts

It should as Aerosoft US Cities products have worked in P3D in the past - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/450540-p3d-v23-aerosoft-us-cities-x-san-fran-horrid-frame-rates/?hl=%2Baerosoft+%2Bcities#entry3067896. They may not be frame rate friendly though. Most of their cities products are not fps friendly, so, if you do install it, you probably should not blame P3D for the problems. Since it really isn't very expensive, I think I'll buy it and install it and let you know. Looks like a fun project!!

EDIT: Changed my mind. I see Detroit is the only product set up to use P3D right now. You would have to use that special migration program to get it installed (and I don't like that migration tool). Again, it should work but it is going to be hard on your fps.

I purchased the Detroit product and uninstalled it within a day.  I wasn't very impressed with it.  The visuals weren't all that great and it conflicted a bit with ORBX Global and/or Vector.  I had trees growing in the Detroit River.

My first regretted purchase.

Jim,

Not to hijack this thread, but what is it you do not like about the Estonia Migration Tool? We use it in the VA I fly with so we can get FSInn to work to fly on line, and I have installed a couple of things that have FSX specific installers and it works well.

I wonder if MegaScenery Earth would be more FPS friendly, on FSX Aerosoft did make a hit on the FPS.

It's a hack.  It's getting around an installer made for another product.  I know it is legit but I would rather wait for the commercial developer to come up with a product made for P3D instead of using a hack. Look at what happened when many tried to hack the Real Air Turbine Duke into P3D.  There are a just a lot of cases where it does not work perfectly and members wonder why they are having CTD's or low frame rates and other anomalies.

Best regards,

I agree it has to be used selectively. However, it abstracts away a lot of the complexity when installing addons like EZDok 1.15 and 1.17; which have to be on the system before upgrading to 1.185.

Just in case anybody wanted to get back on topic, I was going to make the comment that I have done alright 'selectively' installing the photoreal back drop, taking out the large blocks of urban coverage and just leaving the coastlines and airport backgrounds.  Been experimenting this way with US Cities LA.  So far the jury is still out but I get the feeling that it is better looking and somewhat easier on the FPS, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part.  More test flying is required.

Photo scenery like megascenery earth had little to low impact on fps. It's the autograph and 3d models that have high fps impact.

Photo scenery have impact on VAS usage.
