9th March 2015, Steam Edition update goes into open beta

Featured Replies

How do you do that? I don't see such an option here?

Incidentally, for many the main feature of the Beta is that it seems to have fixed most of the G3D and TERRAIN crashes which plagued many users.

Go into steam and on the Steam menu on upper right, select go offline. It will then start Steam offline, then FSXSE with the new update will allow you to run without the internet connected. I think though if you are running online, and lose internet, then I think you'll still have an issue.

Thanks

Tom

I hope, that as the beta was, well, just that a beta, they will have taken on board peoples complaints about the T7 and Airbus. And if they can't fix them by the deadline, then hold back the patch until they are fixed. All credit to HiFi for jumping on the problem as quickly as they did.

It's up to third-parties to update their installers and run-times to work with DTG's FSX version updates.

Why do people get this backwards?!

Payware is designed to work with FSX! Not the other way around! 3rd parties therefore need to keep up with the updates, else they and their customers will get left behind.

Or...

You can also go offline from opening Steam, and clicking "Steam" in the upper left corner, then "Go Offline...".

Super! Thanks! That one suits me, as I need t be on-line for real weather from ASN.

Can you post a screen shot of the steam screen.

Thanks

You don't have to be online.

Open Steam without internet, and you get this:

Click "Start in Offline Mode".

I have ditched classic FSX for FSX SE. And like most long term FSX users, have a multitude of add-ons of various types etc. Well, let me tell you, it has been a most rewarding experience. All of my add-ons, which include- FSUIPC, ProATC X, FS2 Crew, PMDG 737 & T7, REX4, Soft Clouds, ASN, EZDOK v1.18.5, GEX, UTX Europe v2, UK2000, Aerosoft (Airport and Aircraft), PrecipitFX, MY Traffic, AI Controller, Traffic Manager, Aivlasoft EFB, three different versions of ACARS VA Software, and Sim Starter, work without any problems at all. On Tuesday I also did a complete re-install of everything and it took me just three and a half hours! I also use no tweaks at all, and have not touched the cfg file once since I first installed FSX SE. My average fps, on the ground with AI traffic at 25% is 24 and much smoother, all this running in DX10 with cockpit shadows using DX10 Fixer. Oh, and I forgot to mention, that I have verified the integrity of the files about six times, with all add ons installed, with no problems at all.

No Reality XP is a dealbreaker to me.

Try Flight1's GTN 750 and you won't care about it anymore - wicked!

Add RealAir Duke Turbine 2 and you're laughing

Well....

Awesome bunch of posts Diego!

Is the offline mode only for those without an internet connection and want to fly or is there some other benefit to not using an internet connection with Steam ?

It's more intended for when we have an intermittent connection, Mark.

Ok got it.

So are we expecting the release of the new version today ?  Not quite sure how this beta process is working.

Might not be today. A few more bugs were thrown up (that's the point of a Beta after all). They are working on it still. I'll need to update FSUIPC again when it's available.
