March 17, 201511 yr Sadly the Aerosoft Airbus does not work with this Beta, it is reported over at the AS Forum that DTG indicate it is Aerosofts problem? ?.not my words! Odd attitude...would have thought all parties would work more closely seeing the end game is to sell working software for any particular platform..would have thought software houses would release Betas to developers first and ask does you product function ok before we do a general test.. Unfortunately due to personal leave ..by one of the key development team which is fully understandable..I wish them at AS this required fix will be a little while in coming...however it works fine without the Beta... Thanks
March 17, 201511 yr Eeek, Just installed the Beta and the Flight1 GTN-750 does not work so back to the previous version for me.
March 17, 201511 yr Moderator Eeek, Just installed the Beta and the Flight1 GTN-750 does not work so back to the previous version for me. That's no great surprise. Like the Aerosoft Airbus' installer, the F1 GTN installer(s) look for specific sub-version numbers when reading the Registry entries. They do this because they need to know what specific version of SimConnect and/or specific memory address offsets to use. This is the same reason Pete Dowson has to continually update FSUIPC for each iteration of FSX:SE and Prepar3D. Fr. March 17, 201511 yr Here is a link to Mathijs response about Aerosoft Steam installers. Basically they are going to wait for the updates to settle down. http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/93122-why-no-fsxsteam-installers/ Mike
March 17, 201511 yr Commercial Member IF10's latest installer runs sleuth code to determine the changes to -SE and rewrites the exe and updates the configuration to suit. Worked nicely so far when the beta came out, will have to see how it goes. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

March 18, 201511 yr Martin from Steam just posted that they are putting the finishing touches on the new FSX-SE build. It will also be released as a beta before the finalize. Mark CYYZ

March 19, 201511 yr Thank you for that Sadly it looks as if it is closed now as I cannot input the code .... On a brighter note .. I see there is another update about to be released Paul
March 19, 201511 yr Thank you for that Sadly it looks as if it is closed now as I cannot input the code .... On a brighter note .. I see there is another update about to be released Paul Beware if you have the PMDG T7 or Aerosoft A3xxx series, the new Beta breaks them. DTG says it's up to them to fix the issues, which hasn't happened yet, so if you install the update these addons will fail. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
March 19, 201511 yr This is price paid for platform progress.. This is software world and 15 years of an untouched platform, suddenly we see great activity. So many parts to the puzzle, when the main pieces change there is a knock on effect and it takes some time (not hours or even days) for the various parties to make their changes too. Lets not moan too much - Dovetail want to take FSX into the future so let's at least support them - and the devs - in progressing our hobby.

Lets not moan too much - Dovetail want to take FSX into the future so let's at least support them - and the devs - in progressing our hobby. The only issue I have with that, is that they are not coordinating with the Devs on these planned updates. The Devs seem to know when we know, instead of getting a heads up and a look at what they are updating to see if it affects them. The exception seems to be Peter Dowson who was kept in the loop so he can have his FSUIPC ready. Probably because so many other addons depend on it. When Aces updated FSX with SP1 and later SP2/Acceleration, they had early access so they could prepare their addons for the update, which was released at or shortly after the SP release. In this case, they didn't know until we did, and caught them by surprise, (Could be because they don't publish their software through Steam) PMDG just updated both there NGX and the T7 just a few weeks before to be compatible. If they knew this was coming, I'm sure they would have held off until this update was complete, rather then commit resources to development and testing of a version that would have a lifespan of about a month or two. Now they have do it all again, (Assuming they continue to support the platform) while these resources would have been used to develop their new releases. So either the Steam update will come after these addons, or if they do fix the problems first, the release of these addons will be pushed even further out, and what's to stop DTG from doing it again a couple of months down the road? This was the reason up til now PMDG and others have been reluctant to support X-Plane because of it's constant updating it was always a moving target. Only now the market is large enough that they could not ignore it. While FSX-SE in general will have a considerable market itself, I think not so much for these hard core addons like PMDG or Aerosoft. This market I think will either stay with FSX Classic, or migrate more to P3D Although personally I don't see why. As the current differences between FSX/FSX-SE and P3D is not that great, For me it certainly doesn't justify the premium price for it IMHO. I'm all for these platforms to be supported and updated to keep up, I'm just concerned at the pace these updates take place. So far I think there has been 2 major updates to FSX-SE since it's release in December. The first one was necessary to fix the file structure to allow existing addons to work. I just hope this pace slows down a bit. At least the major ones that will break existing addons like this one, and coordinate better with the 3rd parties both Steam and Non Steam better when they are planned. How do you install the update? The Beta you have to opted in, How to do that should described on the link above. When the official update is released it will be automatic.
