Maule M7 no longer flyable in P3D 2.4

Recommended Posts

After not loading P3D for a few weeks, a really strange thing happened to my default Maule M7.

I used to find it the easiest aircraft to fly, so I'm very familiar with it - it was the one I used in about 60% of my flights.

Now, though, I can barely get it above tree height. Almost as soon as it's off the ground, it starts to lose lift and yaws to the left, as if something is stuck. Every flight ends in a sideways crash within 20 seconds.

No other aircraft behave like this, so I don't think my controllers are at fault. Is there any way to reset a 'broken' plane? Can such a thing even happen?

Anything unusual from an outside view of the plane, like the rudder stuck hard over?

Is it possible that you have autopilot on?

Thanks for the suggestions. Autopilot definitely wasn't on and I checked outside to make sure the control surfaces were as they should be.

But just now I crashed once again, and when I reloaded the engine was switched off (it's usually running). Starting up from that state, the aircraft behaved as normal.

I fly the maul probably 90% of the time. I have seen odd things like this happen as well. I will be flying along level then suddenly it will start losing power and fall off to the left. I have not proven what causes it. But I think it is joystick related. I have the forcefeed back 2 stick.

Did you try calibrating the stick and also turn off forces and then back on with forces?

I am sorry I cannot be more help, its been quite awhile since this BUG happened to me. but the maul is the only aircraft I have ever seen this occur on.

Actually just tried the default Maule myself and it does indeed want to yaw madly to the left during takeoff.

This is the only default or payware aircraft so far that reacts this way for me.

My gear is calibrated through FSUICP.

I had problems with the Maule after programming my joystick through FSUIPC. It turned out that P3D kept replacing my control assignments after I'd deleted them so P3D was fighting FSUIPC for control making the aeroplane unflyable until I removed the P3D control assignments and saved the settings to an xml file.

I've tried it a couple of times since and there have been no problems. It's as though having the aircraft restart like it did after the last crash somehow reset it.

I have various CH Products controllers, and they often don't show up in the P3D controls menu, even though they work fine. Sometime's they're there, then I'll go back into the menu during the same session and the only thing listed is 'mouse yoke'. It's a flaky piece of software.

Agree.

After clearing out the Standard.xml awhile ago I just discovered P3D had added back a bunch of assignments.

Best thing you can do is, as TrafficPilot says above, is to disable controllers altogether in P3D settings and do everything with FSUICP/LINDA.
