New Processor?

I have a HP Pavilion p6654yDesktop.
Motherboard N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX
Processor AMD Athron II x4 630 2.8 GHz 4cores Socket AM3 4000 MHz
Processor upgrade info:
AMD Phenom II X6 10xxT Six-Core (Thuban core)
X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb core)
X3 7xx7/7xxe Triple-Core (Heka core)
I have integrated graphics using ATI Radeon 4200

I am running two monitors
I fly using FSX, Ultmate X, Plan G and online. My processor maxed out and the simulator was stuttering.
Would you suggest a new processor and or video card? Uses a PCI Express x 16 slot.

The issue is, your motherboard being an AM3, does not support bulldozer processors which are AM3+... which means whatever you could buy won't be much of an upgrade and therefore IMHO not worth the trouble.... and your radeon is way way old. You will be stuck running with your graphics settings turned down or like you said, you will suffer stutters.

 

If you can gather the cash, I'd put together a current intel system with an nvidia gpu and use your old amd system for running all of your flight sim apps other than FSX itself over WideFS. If you have another pc currently that you can use for running planG etc...that might buy you some processor cycles...but unfortunately, you are suffering from 'old pc syndrome' ... 

 

If you wait for the sales on newegg and tigerdirect, you can put together a system on the cheap, but it requires patience!

I would not buy that, i think you should try to buy a more powerful system expecially if you are going to run FSX with 2 monitor setup.

 

I ran FSX with Phenom II x4 955 (only a bit slower than AMD A10 7700K and it was OC @3.8GHZ) with not so good performance, and i use just 1 monitor.

 

Also, 559$ is not a cheap desktop, considering the hardware, it is all pretty weak stuff...

 

I've recently bought a I7 4790K and an ASUS Z97-P Motherboard (total 445€). I've managed to overclock it to 4.7GHZ air cooled the Mobo seems pretty good overclocker and it is very cheap. the performances of this CPU are really impressive.

If you want a cheaper one you can go for I5 4690K.

 

For the GPU i've R9 270X (160€) running pretty fine, but most would suggest NVIDIA, at least GTX 660 (180€).

 

For FSX it would be sufficient 4GB RAM

 

In shot, if you want to fly settings medium-high with 2 monitor you need a far better CPU and GPU than those.

You really need an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU to get the best out of FSX/P3D

 

You will be wasting your money buying that system,

The cheapest way to get a good performing FSX rig is to build it yourself using the fastest Intel Cpu and Nvidia card you can afford and do not try and save any money buying a cheap Motherboard and PSU either those two are the heart of any system.

Yes i did, but i think you can find some help (friend or pay), better to pay 50$ for getting it assembled than paying a lot more for a pre-assembled desktop (often there is a good extra margin for the seller)

 

Regarding installing windows you should try it is very easy, just insert windows DVD and boot from DVD (often you have to set "boot from DVD" in BIOS, but bios are very user friendly now).

 

ps: do not forget to install all drivers including motherboard chipset and audio one

The memory needs to be compatable with the motherboard you buy

, your existing memory will probably not work.

You will need windows 7 64bit and enough data cables for whatever ssds you fit (preferably two one for the OS one for your sim)
