Better Parking Spot

Recommended Posts

I fly my Avro RJ85 in and out of Bristol all the time, but ground services always gives me gate 32 when I land which is out the way. Can I get it them to give me a better gate like the same ones the other jets get with a Jetway?

Is your Avro flying any distinctive airline livery?  In your aircraft.cfg take a look at each [fltsim.xx].

Specifically at:

atc_parking_types                       = GATE
atc_parking_codes                       = BAW

In my example of my British Airways aircraft,  I give ATC no choice other than a gate (delete Ramp

and Cargo).  Also be sure your airline code is correct and there is an (s) in types and codes.  The

only other thing,  is there enough parking with a large enough area for your aircraft?

My Avro is flying the Generic Quality Wings Livery as I can't find any other that also has the airstairs.

The main parking would be big enough for my plane, its where the Easyjet Airbus's go, but I get sent to a parking spot right down the bottom beyond the terminals

Try giving your aircraft atc_parking_codes=Easyjet's code, what ever it is. (EZY)  Keep in

mind that even if you are assigned a gate you may not have a jetway.

Sorry to jump on the back of this thread but my question is sort of related. How do you guarantee a parking spot (gate or otherwise) on arrival? I've turned up at many airports and all gates and parking are full.

What tells you that all parking is full?  Does ATC say go away, come again another day?

Almost!

The GSX window will show all appropriately sized gates and parking as not available or available shortly

Specific parking is easy to organise if you have AFX or ADE. Just open the airport that you are interested in and change the parking spot airline assignments to the code you use in your aircraft configuration file. I use a dummy airline ID in my aircraft configuration file although I fly United. This enables me to change a parking spot from the official United code to my aircraft code. This way I can arrange to be parked with other United aircraft but will have a specific parking spot for my aircraft. This approach means that as you will be using the same spot all the time and thus it is worthwhile tuning GSX (if you use it) specifically for your aircraft at that parking spot.

Thanks for that John, very helpful.

I do have ADE although I've never used it :( I'll start reading up and see how I get on.
