Plain old WinZip Demo can open RAR files.   Doesn't even require any special action, just click on 'em, and you're in!

who else cannot wait for the update to the ngx? Wx radar, wind imports, and possibly other features added to the 737ng package. I'm growing tired of the daily OOM with the 777, bring on the NG. Thanks above for the sound package youtube link, installing now

This your first time on AVSIM in a couple months? Might want to check out the pmdg forum and website for the update you missed quite some time ago!

Update has been out for over a month now!

- WX radar...yep!

- No wind imports (the real one doesn't have it AFAIK, but I might be wrong)

I spent over a month fighting OOM only to read this last weekend that PMDG admit it is their 777 causing it! So I have not had much time to go over news or fly often. Oops, thanks guys for letting me know the update is there.

Well hope you enjoy it!!  I like the NGX as it's more "hands on" and less "automation"!!  :)

installing now. Thanks. I like the 777 better because Id rather fly freighters but the ngx is fun too, and no oom errors

Talking about this one.

"Boeing 737 Next-Generation CFM56-7B (PMDG 737NGX Edition)"

The startup and engine idle sounds are working although it might be that especially the idle operation has a hard time 'countering' that loud cockpit/avionics ventilation. But this also was the case with the original sound set for me.

To check for possible error sources regarding missing sounds, one could check the sound folder (SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG 737-800NGX\sound) which should come up with some 98 items and also make sure to have the right sound.cfg in place.

The package contained two, one for the actual sound replacement in the PMDG 737-800NGX folder and another one for all other variants stating: "alias=PMDG 737-800NGX\sound"

I believe that this could be a solid sound pack, the external sounds are great but when it comes to taking off from the cockpit it is pretty weak. Just a minor fix and it will be perfect!

Holy thread resurrection lol. My only gripe with the default sounds are the spoiler and trim. You don't hear spoiler rumble to my knowledge and the trim sound is poor. The trim sound is way off. Everything else is okay.
