Any word on whether this "memory leak" fix for the 777 will eliminate the freezing issues many of us experience?

yes, unfortunately it is. But not kicking off or making waves, just feel that it's been long enough to get this sorted.

 

Don't think it's right that the update is available for some but not others, shouldn't have been released until it's available for all, why should I have to wait any longer because I bought the disc version?

I don't know exact numbers, but I would take an educated guess that DVD customers are just a fraction of total PMDG customers. On the reverse side of the coin, why should the majority of customers be forced to wait for a download link that's ready until new DVD boxes are shipped out which can take weeks?

 

It's like the Kindle version of the latest Harry Potter book being held back from online customers just because the paperback editions are on backorder.

People are entitled to their own choices, but I wonder what's so different from buying the DVD vs buying the digital copy and burning it onto a disc...it's exactly the same thing except you don't get a printed cardboard box, and you get updates as soon as they are available.

I've just tried out the new version, and perhaps it's placebo effect, but performance seemed fantastic.  Frames (in MS FSX) seemed higher and more consistant and the whole experience seemed smoother.

Decided to download the new installer for the 737 P3D thinking I could have a quick flight before I went to bed. Uninstalled the previous version and have started to download the new version @ 9 kb/s! Cancelled and tried again but the browser is telling me over 3 days to download! I'm in the UK on 150Mb/s cable and it takes me 10 mins to download the whole of P3D so I assume the server is overloaded. Someone earlier mentioned 1982, well not long after this I had a 14.4K modem which was quicker than this. Oh, its just picked up speed, 4 mins now so if anyone else is initially very slow it does pick up after about 5 minutes. Might get a flight after all

PMDG uses the Amazon cloud so I doubt it was a server issue; however, there are a lot of service providers between you and the source so it's almost impossible to tell where the throttle is closed.
