I have tried everything I can do for anti-aliasing but it doesnt do the trick :(

Actually I didnt do anything on DX10 Preview...Do you mean that my graphic doesnt match with the settings?

Yes. In post #5 above you indicate your P3D texture_max_load setting is 1024 (1024x1024) which is not very high (I recommend at least 2048x2048 or the best 4096). In your OP (post#1) you indicate that you are not getting any jaggies using DX10 Preview in FSX. So, to be fair, your texture_max_load setting in FSX should also be at 1024. Then it would be a fair comparison. Your last image in post #1 shows "a perfect FSX" but the textures definitely do not look like they are at 1024. Those look like HD or 4096 settings.

I use a 1920x1200 display, 16x aniso + 2xMSAA + 2xSGSSAA + 1.5xDSR smoothing at 25% looks sharp, but maybe a little poorly antialiased for some. Try adjusting smoothing up to 50%, and try adding FXAA. 1.5xDSR leaves the display text a reasonable size.

It's real simple AA is the weak spot for P3D and isn't up to what we where used to with FSX or FS9 etc...

Some workarounds are to minimize the effect:

- Add MipMaps to some airport textures...

- Use FXAA  (slight blur to the end result)

- Use a form of DSR (performance decrease depends on your VGA hardware and smaller text advantage is MSAA could be enough)

- Use SS (performance hit in overcast or complex cloud layers)

For me personal I would avoid SS because I like complex cloud layers and skies :-)

Cheers,

Best regards,

but 2048 really are sharp textures.. I would call them very ehm, big, as in VAS usage etc

Haha...Actually I am not using DX10, I dont even know how to get it work. In my FSX, DX9 is used, and Texture_Max_Load is 2048, however my REX4 Textures are set to 512 and 1024...

Do you mean selecting FXAA in P3D in-game setting?

Spot on comment except you forgot to mention this issue was not as evident in 2.4 as it is in 2.5 thats for sure - I never needed to use DSR and now I do something has gone south here - I have done enough begging to LM - maybe they will get it right someday - that being said 2.5 is really good

Yes, might help with smoothing the image instead of using more DSR smoothing or higher multiples of AA. Something to try at least.

Selecting more than 2x DSR might not help much but decreases performance more with P3D than FSX. But really no more than 1.5x is needed, and anyway, more than that can be too much for some cards with 2Gb and high AA settings. When too much is asked things don't work as intended. If we sat 4x DSR and the text isn't tiny, that's because it's too much for the GPU card.

Hey Rich, I think you're right. I was messing around with that a few weeks ago, and it appeared SSAA is broken but SGSSAA still works with some combinations of driver/P3D versions.

SGSS is working for my GTX 970 using driver version 347.88.

That being said, I prefer a DSR of x2 with smoothing at 23 instead of 4xAA w/4xSGSS. Not only is the aliasing gone, but HDR seems to look and work better with a higher resolution as well.

SGSSAA not working on my system with 347.88  on my Titan. Tried various re-install and creating an entirely new profile but still a no go.

Also in 2.5 there is an issue with z-fighting -  not sure how long it's been there but it causes lots of flashing pixels when viewed far away and this may be what your seeing too. I already started a thread over on the P3D forums on it.

I know I am lol Steve - things are way different in 2.5 and not for the good - just wish I could get Rob to believe me but he never will

I have the same problem with GTX770 and all the driver versions I have tried before. Should it be the problem of P3D itself?

Not sure if it's a P3D issue/driver/hardware issue, haven't gotten any feedback from ATI GPU users yet if they see the same thing. I suspect it's P3D itself.

Also just tried SGSS again with the hotfix from 2 days ago and still no improvement.

Haha...Actually I am not using DX10,

I wish I could figure out where I thought you had mentioned using DX10 Preview. I'm losing it. Not a problem.

Supersampling certainly working on my R290 with CCC.

In fact it is the only CCC setting that seems to work with P3D2.5.

Luckily the results are very good.

SGSSAA working with my GTX670 347.88.

Results not as good as with FSX.

Never had to even think of using this in 2.4 why oh why is this need in 2.5 and that still doesn't help much - DSR is the only thing I have found to help out - if aint broke why fix it on this one gents - many videos and screenshots from 2.5 look crap except for Rob as 4k must be a big plus in 2.5's short comings
