June 26, 200520 yr Ron; Sure wish the pre-existing customers of the original Coyote Avionics SN3308 had been included in what you consider your "loyal customer base." That original customer base was orphaned as a result of the Eaglesoft/Coyote Avionics partnership, and that didn't help garner any sense of customer loyalty here. My choices were to buy the product again at full price from Eaglesoft, or forego any future upgrades. At any rate, I agree that choice is a good thing, and I'm especially happy that Reality XP has now given me one with respect to the Sandel 3308. No implication was intended that Coyote Avionics or Eaglesoft won't ever deliver on those promises. I really don't know if, or just as importantly when, that'll happen, but I have no reason to doubt it. However, given that both the Eaglesoft and Reality XP products sell for the same $19.95 price, I have to note that the Reality XP offering already delivers moving map features, much more complete interfacing to the Reality XP GPS gauges, and more. The Eaglesoft product delivers a less-featured gauge with the promise of a free upgrade at some undertermined point in the future. Furthermore, Ike's track record with the Coyote SN3308 would suggest that a prolonged wait for any promised upgrades is probable. Last, I have a nagging doubt that Reality XP, now that they are marketing a competing product, will continue to provide you the needed interfacing details that would allow full compatibility between the Eaglesoft gauge and the Reality XP Garmin 530/430 gauges.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300 Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
June 26, 200520 yr Bob, sorry to say that the "orphaned customer base" of the Sandel SN3308 by Coyote Avionics prior to the Eaglesoft/Coyote agreement could not be "grandfathered" in. Our commitment to our loyal customer base was refering to Eaglesoft/Coyote SN3308 customers since the Eaglesoft/Coyote agreement was made.Glad to hear that you feel that customer choice in products is a good thing and also glad to hear that you are happy with your new gauge. At the end of the day, the fact that you had a choice, made a choice, and are happy with your choice is indeed a good thing.:-) It should be noted that the "track record of Ike Slack" remains impecable and one only needs to look at his work on our upcoming Avidyne system to see the quality and quantity the gentleman produces. Please understand that while we build for compatibilty with known third party vendors wherever possible, we are not concerned if third party vendors build their products in the way you describe as it usually reveals a fear of competition:-)Our focus remains on developing the best products WE can produce, NOT on compatibilty issues with third party vendors. If such vendors choose to not allow compatibility with competing developers such as Eaglesoft Development Group that is perfectly fine with us.It should be remembered that NO third party vendor has a monopoly in this hobby and a VERY LARGE number of flightsim enthusiast do very well without your favorite third party vendors products. In the end, as it was at the beginning, the fact that flightsim enthusiast HAVE a choice, MAKE a choice, and are happy with THEIR choice is indeed a good thing.:-)
June 26, 200520 yr The Reality XP SN3308 is really a perfect addition to the A36. I now have such a great aircraft that it's a pure enjoy when flying it.
June 26, 200520 yr >It should be noted that the "track record of Ike Slack">remains impecable and one only needs to look at his work on>our upcoming Avidyne system to see the quality and quantity>the gentleman produces. I have no problem with the quality of Ike Slack's work. My principal criticism is w/r/t the timeliness of that work on the SN3308 in particular, and that's a matter of historical fact. So yes...his work is acceptable, but slow.Perhaps I should set myself a reminder to come back to this thread in a month's time...and again every month thereafter until the promised Eaglesoft GDI+ gauge with moving map display materializes.>It should be remembered that NO third party vendor has a >monopoly in this hobby and a VERY LARGE number of flightsim>enthusiast do very well without your favorite third party>vendors products. My favorite third-party vendor? A quick search through the forums will reveal that I've been critical of RealityXP products as well.As one of the relatively few people who have experience with both the Coyote Avionics and the RealityXP SN3308 gauges, I looked at the two products, including the record of support from the respective programmers, and concluded that the RealityXP product eclipses the Coyote/Eaglesoft version in virtually every respect. That doesn't make me a RealityXP fan...I just think they offer a much more complete SN3308 gauge for the same price, and with better prospects for future compatibility and timely support. Finally, I would think you'd agree that part-and-parcel with the great freedom of HAVING choices is the ability to undertake the open discussion that leads to an ability to make INFORMED choices. The good news for the makers of inferior products of all kinds, is that there are always those people that don't bother with the "informed" part...to paraphrase P.T. Barnum, there's one born every minute. Just ask Peter Tishma, or the comrades over at Captain Sim.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300 Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
June 26, 200520 yr Bob, your critique of Ike Slacks speed is not welcome given the fact that Ikes age exceed 60+ years. I have the privelage of knowing the gentleman and prefer that his name be left out of these discussions. No need to revisit this thread often since the "progress reports" will be given in our own forums and announcements will be made at appropriate times. We were recently notified that the RXP "partnership" program was being revamped and that Eaglesoft Development Group no longer fit into their plan. This was followed quickly with the release announcement from RXP.In light of these events, our simple response is that we will continue with our SN3308 project upgrades as pledged without regard to RXP.As to the releative merits of the two products let's be fair here...The current Eaglesoft/Coyote Avioncs SN3308 as used in the DF A36 has NOT YET been upgraded. To compare our older version to the newer RXP version is certainly not a true "apples to apples" comparison. As to compatibility with RXP units, we do not expect that RXP will provide Eaglesoft Development Group with required info for us to build to RXP compatibility.Hope this meets your standard of open discussion and information.:-)
June 26, 200520 yr "age exceed 60+ years"What has that got to do with the price of tea?Iam 60+ and I find that reference to the price of tea in poor taste. But I am 60+. Critique of one is critique of the other. I've been careful not to pick on the man personally, but his past slow performance in support of Coyote Avionics' product IS, and should remain, an issue (his age and your "welcomeness" notwithstanding).>No need to revisit this thread often since the "progress>reports" will be given in our own forums and announcements>will be made at appropriate times.Of course after a number of monthly revisits without the promised release, then my point on timeliness of updates to Ike's gauge will have been made...>As to the releative merits of the two products let's be fair>here...>>The current Eaglesoft/Coyote Avioncs SN3308 as used in the DF>A36 has NOT YET been upgraded.Exactly. June 26, 200520 yr Bob, a bit of respect for a gentleman of Ike's caliber would seem to be in order but if you choose not to that is your business. You are quite welcome to compare products however you wish...just providing another view. We feel the only "apples to apples" comparison will be made when our work is complete but we certainly will not argue the point further. No claim of credit for work not completed is implied in our statements. We certainly don't feel "orphaned by RXP" as you imply...we have never based our decisons on whether RXP approves or allows compatibility so there is nothing new here:-)
