Why is the Aerosoft Airbus A320 unflyable with ASN clouds?

Featured Replies

I end up hitting 'Control C' on half my flights in this aircraft when ASN weather includes clouds.  It is the only aircraft I fly that cuts my frame rates in half with ASN. Is it poor optimization by Aerosoft or something else? I have trimmed back settings in ASN which does not help. I would like to fly it in other than clear skies but not that does not appear achievable.

I use it in P3D2 with REX Essential + weather and though the frame rate drops, it's still perfectly playable (maybe 20-25fps) and my system is nothing special these days. Not sure if that really helps sorry! From what I read, I get the impression that ASN injects a lot more cloud layers than REXE+ does.

Try disabling the "repeating overcast texture pattern fix" under "visual fix options" in ASN when using the Aerosoft Airbus. That worked for me.

It might be that the Airbus is badly optimized. I don't have any problems with asn and the pmdg 777 or any other planes. Don't have the Airbus

I'll try that, thanks!

The Aerosoft A-320 bogs down my system too with ASN running.  I think it may be poorly optimized as stated above.

I use ASN and the new Aerosoft A318-321 together with no issues. The A320 runs under the same conditions (with ASN) with at least 5fps more than the PMDG 737. From my side I can't say that the A320 is poorly optimized.

I would say something else must be wrong on your side. Also check the aerosoft A320 support forum (not AVSIM), I can remember that some people over there also had an issue with the performance from ASN & A320.

By the way: I run P3D only on a Notebook.

I too have the issue of FPS being cut in half when flying through clouds in P3D 2.5. Dont know why though...

is it just me but i cannot find this option in the newest ASN version. Under visual fix options i only find the "cloud pop fix"....

Thanks for helping,

I haven't upgraded to the newest version yet, so I'm not sure. Are you getting bad performance in the Airbus? If so, and there's now no option to turn this option off, that's a real shame...

James

Hi James,

indeed i get worse performance in the Airbus when flying through thick clouds....

I need to try if this is the same for PMDG 737 and 777

James,

This option is still there in ASN for FSX (SP2) (and if I am not wrong this is the MS FSX forum, correct?). Obviously Carsten is using P3D. In ASN for P3D the option is removed as this option is off by default (this "fix" is not needed in P3D).
