Over the Swiss and Austrian Alps

Recommended Posts

I departed this morning in the Italian Aosta valley and am on my way to Interlaken, Switzerland, where I plan to stop for lunch and to refuel.

The scenery is part of the freeware Italy photo-scenery and is pretty breathtaking. Luckily it penetrates deep into Switzerland and covers also a large part of western Austria

I approach Lake Thun. Turning east from here will bring us to Interlaken

I have taken off again and head further east. Below one can see the airport of Meiringen

We are above the eastern part of Lake Vierwaldstetten

Finally we have reached Austrian airspace. Let’s see, where I go from here J

I hope you like my little flight above a beautiful part of Europe.

It's fun flying through those long valleys, scenery has great color and texture...outstanding work!

Thanks a lot. You are correct, flying in those valleys is great fun indeed, especially if the scenery is as good as this one (or many other photo-sceneries)

Thanks Martin for your kind help. Actually when you go to the (Italian language only) website, you will see two different versions. The first one, which is the one that you see here in my screenies, covers Italy at 2m resolution and has a size of 40GB. The newer one, which is not yet completely available, goes down to 1m resolution, but at a massive 400GB!

I have downloaded a few of the 1m ones and compared them to the (at least for me) already excellent 2m version. You will only spot a difference at a flight level below 1,000ft. For 10x the space required on my harddrive I stick to the 2m version. I don't need to know, which farmer in the Aosta valley or in Naples has what car parked in his driveway :-)

Patrick, the aircraft is the Carenado Seneca V

Thanks Bernd!

Probably better for choosing the grapes around Toscany!

Incidentally, did you have to use the separate Auto-gen files and, if so, which set?

I have used so far the autogen version 2 (2014). I haven't downloaded yet the newer version 3

Having gone to download the first version of the scenery from Google Drive, I do not seem to see where the actual download hyperlink is! I can go into each file: 122; 123; 124; etc, in the directory, and see the contents, but not how to actually download them.

I would expect it to at least come up with a Windows type panel so that I can choose where I want to save the file, but nothing!

A prod in the right direction would help, thank you!
