April 13, 201511 yr Who said anything about default? If you use any land class based scenery at all then this will be worth it. Since 1000s of simmers use FTX global, regions, GEX etc then it's not default is it? also, as far as I know, most addon airports still call the autogen tree textures even if they are placed. Obviously this product is not aimed at those using photo tiles as you don't get trees at all! I wonder why even bother commenting in fact? Photoscenery has its place, but not in my sim world nor in this discussion.VFR low and slow is easily doable in FTX regions by the way, so that sweeping comment is also void. It's default as far as tree placement is concerned. You're not telling me that FTX global has mapped the entire world for tree placement, are you? Thought not. And why does photoscenery not belong in this discussion? Please explain? So what if it doesn't belong in your sim world. Lots of photoscenery has placement trees included. Try using Google. My add on airports do not call default autogen trees at all, they are all custom and to my liking, including my FTX ones. You wonder why you bother commenting? Indeed, so do I. GHarrell I didn't know that. Never been a fan of photoreal ever since blowing £100 on that Horizon VFR UK stuff. 18 DVDs of tosh! I lied, 12 DVDs. Really? What a joke of a comment. Keith Sandford.
April 13, 201511 yr anyone done a VAS usage test? Requiring 2048 resolution for tree textures to me says it will be a bigger performance hit than default trees. I want a tree product to cut down on vas, not increase texture sizes.
April 13, 201511 yr So far looks like a luke warm reception at AVSIM Rave reviews at ORBX Now there's a surprise! April 13, 201511 yr Commercial Member Watching with interest. As I've commented elsewhere, if purely concentrating on the visual aspects, I suspect this will benefit those of us who like to fly in and out of tiny bush strips in NW states or Canada. There's a few strips that I've flown in where it seems darn close as to whether the wings will clear. ^_^ I've been flying over purely photo-real (and mostly annotated) Hawaii for the past month or so, but the annotated autogen isn't really dense enough to warrant this. Will likely pick it up when I head back to my normal PNW/PFJ flying grounds though. I'm not sure why the hate between photo-real and vector based scenery. They both have their place, and I use both, depending on where I'm flying. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.

April 13, 201511 yr And why does photoscenery not belong in this discussion? Please explain? Because photoscenery is not included in the scope of this tree product so its not relevant. April 13, 201511 yr Commercial Member Because photoscenery is not included in the scope of this tree product so its not relevant. With all due respect, it is just as relevant if/when discussing annotated photo scenery. Just because it's photo scenery, doesn't mean that it doesn't always have autogen. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
April 13, 201511 yr So will someone with a lower end system see a performance boost? I don't care about the 'look' as much as the claimed FPS boost.
April 13, 201511 yr So will someone with a lower end system see a performance boost? I don't care about the 'look' as much as the claimed FPS boost. Just make sure you have a pinch of salt handy. Personally, I think they may have overstated the performance angle. There will be frame watchers out there complaining that they've only gained 1 frame, or worse still, it's made no difference! Yikes! Buy Trees for the looks, if it makes a nice difference for you...Bonus. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
April 13, 201511 yr I noticed a big performance hit when I moved from GEX to global, if this would give me a 5 to 10% boost, I'd be happy!

April 13, 201511 yr I like Orbx, I have a lot of their products, but that difference doesn't justify the money.... I actually prefer the first shot. I thought it was just me...I actually do as well. That is why my view that the promotional screenshots A/B were enhanced. Go back and look at them...there is a night and day difference to them...and that is what promted me to pull out the wallet... Everybody will have their opinion on this and that. I am disappointed with this product. I did not see any change of FPS, going from the default to FTX HD Trees. Could there be an issue with the installer NOT updating every file? If you remember, there were two updates to Global, just for that reason...some files were NOT overwritten...on the first Global update, which was addressed by the second. I have the Spring Blossom trees showing, so I know that at least some, if not all as intended were updated and/or installed. For myself, and yes, I know it is only one opinion of many...but that the effect of this installation, was almost a non-event. When I had to put my face up to the monitor and then put the sim on pause...to 'make sure' I was truly seeing something even close to what the A/B promotional shots were on the ORBX site, now also to be seen upon my monitor...was when I rolled my eyes..and said outloud, addressing myself......what P.T. Barnum once mused.... Makes you wonder.... Stated by a long-time ORBX groupie. Ses
April 13, 201511 yr I've got no claims about FPS or VAS gains, but I certainly like the look of the new trees. Well worth the very small price of admission. But then I fly GA or Warbirds most of the time. These obviously won't do much for you if you're flying tubes. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
