Matt, I used to live in Fraser when McKinley airport was there, planes took off right over the roofs of Woodside Manor apartments. The Meijers is on the McKinley airport land. I now live by the Eastgate shopping center, which I found was once the site of Michigan's first commercial airport. Detroit City Airport is the closest to me, followed by Macomb and Romeo. Detroit City has some tricky restricted airspace (of it's own and Windsor Ontario). When Southwest was based there in the early 90's I flew to Chicago and Indianapolis. Chicago flights were $29. I can get there in 15 minutes. I notice a lot of planes close to the ground flying over my backyard always in the same vector (or 180 degrees to it). If you draw a line from KDET to KMTC on an aviation map, I live half way between the two. Draw a line 90 degrees to that, and you have their flight path. Planes are so low I can identify 737-200 (skinny engines, Westjet still flys them out of Windsor) and see winglets on 737-700s (again Westjet). Lots of big twins and bizjets. Cheers, Bruce
