Has anyone ever heard of this arcade game? It's called "Airline Pilots", and it simulates a 777 around what appears to be Tokyo. I found myself thinking about it for the first time in a while yesterday. When I was a child living in the Middle East, our local arcade had one. As I was an airliner geek way back then, a 777 'simulator' complete with a yoke and a throttle quadrant was the coolest thing in the world, and despite the game being entirely in Japanese I would be glued to it whenever I visited the arcade. About a year ago, I found one at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport near the observation deck, and using it brought back many great memories of my first experience with 'piloting' an aircraft. I'd love to know if it is at all possible to find the software for the game, and install it onto my desktop computer. Perhaps it is available in Japan? It is by no means a high fidelity simulation, but it would be fun to goof around with, and the late-90s graphics do have a certain charm to them. I'd love to be able to play the game without having to buy a plane ticket to Amsterdam!

Oops, sorry, I missed that thread! Good to know that I'm not the only one who remembers it fondly. Would be nice if someone could come up with a way for us to use it again without shelling out 7 grand. 

I remember an English version of this at a Dave and Buster's in upstate New York. Unfortunately, that was the only time I ever saw it, as the next time I went back a few months later, it was no longer there.

I think I only saw it once, too. I was pretty young and can't remember where, but I liked planes even then and was fascinated. I don't remember if I tried to play it or not, but it looks like it would have been expensive, so, probably not. :-/

I think that you're right. I found several files for the game online, but I'm having issues running them. M.A.M.E does not recognize this file: (http://www.emuparadise.me/M.A.M.E._-_Multiple_Arcade_Machine_Emulator_ROMs/Airline_Pilots_Deluxe_(Rev_B)/96514) When I drop it into the rom folder (I have all the MAME stuff in a single folder on my desktop called "mame"). When I drop these two files into the rom folder, the game gives me the option to play "airline pilots" or whatever the file name is, but when I click on it it tells me that a CD or ROM file is missing. (http://www.emuparadise.me/M.A.M.E._-_Multiple_Arcade_Machine_Emulator_ROMs/Naomi_Airline_Pilots_Deluxe_Bios/96498) (http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/retro/mame/airline-pilots-deluxe/). The free ROM files form the MAME website work fine, and I am able to play the game after simply dropping the zip into the rom folder. If you know about how to use MAME and could let me know what I'm doing wrong, that would be wonderful.

So on that same page, and right below the file you mention which os the actual rom file, you'll see there's another one which is the BIOS file, and that is required. That's probably the one it tells you is missing.

 

Try adding that one and let me know. If itmsoesn't work I'll try it here myself. Also make sure you have that version of MAME or better (0.155)

I'm a little confused. The emuparadise link is a file called airlbios. Below it, there is another file, which I downloaded, which seems to be BIOSes for a whole bunch of different games, just not the Airline Pilot game. I also downloaded the "The ISO zone" file which was called alpiltdx. I read on a forum post somewhere else that you should put BIOS folders into the ROM folder. I put airlbios and alpiltdx in the ROM file, but got the "Missing CD or ROM file" error again. Which file should I be putting where? 

 

Also, I have the latest version, v0.16 64-bit.
