Drzewiecki Miami for X-Plane released, incl. KMIA, KTMB & KOPF

Recommended Posts

Maybe I'm getting hold of the wrong end of the stick, but would that be legal...? :-/

if you bought the scenery there should be no problem for you to convert it to a file xplane can read.

although it would be better if you support the devs and buy the xplane version.

I was referring to the conversion of the FSX demo version.

I bought this last night and I am not really impressed ! The night lighting looks bad. It looks like FSX baked lighting. It looks ok during the day. The scenery just looks dated and not very high quality. The NY stuff is a lil better. I am not buying anymore FSX converted scenery unless it has xplane tech built in !

Well given its a free demo published the by the creator, I can't imagine any problem with that but I agree maybe it's technically against the license of the demo so I retract my suggestion.

No, this is against the EULA for the software and discussing methods of doing this (EULA busting) is against the Avsim Terms of Services and can result in a ban unless you receive permission from Drzewiecki design.

Besides that, supporting the developer and buying is one way to make sure we'll see X-Plane unique airports in the future :-)

Guess I have to revise my initial impression then. You have a huge point on the need to use X-Plane features to achieve a decent night scenery. The ('baked') FSX workarounds aren't needed nor welcome I'd say.

It's not such a bad thing, as remember, the lighting defined in objects only works if the user has HDR enabled. Otherwise, a non-HDR user (and there are a lot of them) will see just a glowing orb which doesn't light up the texture. Generally, scenery developers should take both into consideration when developing scenery and not just the lowest common denominator.
