Hawker Startup from C+D Help (pic)

I knew I would fall short at this point...  I'm dumb when it comes to these tubes...  so many switches etc.

 

Can anyone label the buttons to push for startup from C+D?  I'm running through the manual, got the APU started, got some stuff on, but at engine 2 start I press the green button, and the N2 spools up but nothing happens.  What am I missing?

 

Also once the APU is running am I supposed to transfer the load somehow to the aircraft electrical systems?

That video should help... I skimmed the first few minutes.  I think he didn't start the APU first but just used the battery.  Which btw I found will die really rapidly if you don't run the APU or start the engines hehe.

It's the fuel valves (or HP Cocks) on the lower middle console.

 

They are probably switched into the low position (fuel cutoff).

 

What I can't figure out though is my electrical warning on the annunciator panel. Not sure what else to turn on.

 

Also can't figure out how to turn the inverters on (or off). Maybe that's why I'm getting the electrical warning.

Hi Ryan,

 

Didn't know this plane had an APU.  Where are the controls for it?  Can't find them anywhere but then again I've been known to overlook stuff before.

 

Were you ever able to get it started?

APU is behind the pilot in the door frame (there's a camera view for it cycle through with the A key)

Putting the fuel levers (HP cocks) up didn't help.  Maybe it's a timing thing?  When to introduce fuel?

 

Grrr...  I did things just like that video too (but with APU)

 

EDIT: Finally success... C+D to no lights on the CWS

 

Here's a diagram (the short of it was the manual neglected to tell you to turn on ENG ignition for each side when you start)

 

This is for the right engine (engine 2) start first...  that's how the manual says to do it.  I don't think it matters in the sim.  This is also using APU...  sorry the numbers look like a four year old drew them lol

 

Step 12 wait for N1 to reach 6% then click the HP cock up (add fuel)

 

Basically just repeat for the left engine.  Also I forgot to circle the two little orange lit buttons upper right side of the OH panel...  cabin power and cabin AC push to turn green after everythings on.

I'm gonna part up a cold and dark album in a couple of hours and explain the process.

 

Check that your Engine Ignition switches are also ON.

 

Fuel is introduced when N2 is greater than 20% and N1 is more than 1% I believe

For the real aircraft, the APU generator should come online automatically once the APU is up to speed. Bleed air can be switched on to run the pack on the ground, but should be switched off before engine start.

 

Before engine start, fuel boost pumps on, ignition auto, inverters on, start master on. Start #2 first to avoid porting hydraulic fluid between the L/H and R/H systems. Introduce fuel at about 15% N2. Once stable, start #1. Be sure to switch the start master off after the second engine is started, or the batteries will not charge. After start, engine generators should come online automatically, but not sure how this is modeled by Carenado. APU generator off, but leave bleed air on, as the engine bleeds are NOT turned on until airborne, and taking off with APU bleed on will provide heating/air conditioning/pressurization support until engine bleeds can take over.

 

Before taxi, turn engine alternators on to provide power for windshield heat, and turn screen heat switches on. When lining up for takeoff, probe heat switches on. After takeoff, engine bleeds on. It takes about 60 seconds for the engine bleed valves to fully open. Once they do, the APU stop button can be pressed, and once APU RPM spools down, APU master off.

 

The 850XP does indeed have very small main batteries, rated at only 32 Amp Hours, and they have little reserve capacity. Starting on batteries alone should be avoided if at all possible. Best to start with APU assist, or if the APU is inop, with an external DC cart.

Overhead panel, lower right, Main Air Valve 1&2. Though the switches do move in the sim, the underlying system does not appear to be modeled - I.e. They are just for show.
