Flight Plan Import possible?

Hi guys,

 

I didnt find anything in the manual but is it possible to import a Flight Plan which was created externaly via Flightsim Commander or PFPX into the Proline?

That's what I was wanting too...   even to be able to  'save'  a flight plan would save a lot of repeated waypoint entering which gets tedious. Have the guys at Carenado ever used an FMC ?

 

Have they tried a PMDG FMC to see how it works and how to make things a bit easier - like Panel State save ?

 

 Even the very least be able to load a flight plan from FSX flight planner....

 

They should all be made to fly in VATSIM for a month doing at least one flight per day to learn what is needed...   anyone agree ?

.... another thing which irritates..  why only a few POP UP windows ... for instance -  can anyone read the Warning annunciator panel on the main panel ? I cant make out the writing from the pilots seat and have to zoom in to read whats illuminated....  now if it popped up then that would be so much easier.

 

....and the clickspots are too small on the existing POP UPs...   very difficult to catch a small spot when using trackIR and with Dynamic Head Movement on, flying in a gusty wind.

 

...  perhaps they should have a play with the PMDG 737 for a few days/weeks and find out how much easier it is the way they do it.

While I agree that the ability to import flight plans from planners like PFPX would be a handy feature for simmers, the fact is that real flight crews in real Proline-equipped Hawkers have to manually enter flight plans in the FMS using waypoints and airways.

 

The FMS in the Carenado is a simplified version of that in a real 850XP, and though there a quite a few r/w FMS functions that are not modeled, the flight plan entry technique is one feature that is accurately emulated.

 

Being able to store a flight plan once entered would be a good feature though, as the real FMS WILL do that, and it appears that the sim version will not.

Uh... no it's not. The FPLN page is completely dead with the exception of departure and destination, and that's the page where you build your flight plan from. Then you would use the legs page to clean things up if needed. Also the DEP/APP interface is incorrect as well. So no, it's not accurately emulated at all.

......in contrast to R/W pilots ...  simmers also have the diadvantage of having once entered a Flight Plan and all the settings, data etc into the FMC and set switches and such like,  the FSX program can and sometimes does, CRASH.   Then the whole process has to begin again....  possibly even before getting off the ground.

It might appear dead, but check the second page of the flight plan to input the next waypoint or airway, once you put in the first intermediate waypoint. It works.

That would be completely incorrect behavior. I'll still classify that as dead.

Entry of enroute waypoints and airways on the FPL page most certainly does work on my installation. The "to" and "via" buttons are fully functional. Not sure why it would not work for you I've built several flight plans during initial testing.

 

I have not yet tried entering and SIDS or STARS on the DEP/ARR pages, but simple selection of departure runway and arrival approach do work.

 

I'm not saying that the FMS as a whole is "accurate" as it is not by a long shot. It's very stripped down. There are many missing menu options on the PERF page that even a simplified PL-21 emulation should have, and the autopilot "logic" has major bugs. I would not expect a lot of systems emulation accuracy from Carenado, but even the simplified functions on the overhead panel have some really silly errors that should have been caught before release - like the fact that they have engine generator control tied to the alternator switches - fuel boost pumps have no effect etc...

Definitely agree it would be nice to have for many simmers.

 

Some Proline-equipped Hawkers do have AFIS systems where it is indeed possible to get a flight plan unlinked to the FMS via ACARS from external planning service providers like ArincDirect. That system is optional, and monthly subscription charges are quite high, so it is not all that common.

It doesn't appear that there is a way to get radar contact to recognize a flight plan that is input directly into the Carenado Hawker 850 fmc.

 

 

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?

I just got the 850XP and like others am really disappointed about not being able to load/import/safe a flighplan. Sort of a waste of money. Guess I've been spoiled by Aerosoft Airbus 321 which has a fully functional FMS. I use PFPX and Aiviasoft  EFB for flightplans so at least I have a saved routing but it's a real pain to have to enter a plan from scratch each time. Other Carenado products use the old, outdated (2005) database which is really useless for VATSIM flying.
