Is anyone else successfully using a 2nd monitor which runs off the same graphics card as the main display?  If so, have you had any problems with P3D crashing when running in full-screen mode or windowed mode on the main display?.  I'm using the Win+P function in W7 to extend my display to the second monitor so I can move applications onto it and view them without having to dip out of P3D constantly, but P3D is not liking this and it keeps crashing out.

I've been able to do it with an Nvidia 970 card.  I even had Bezel correction... however I got annoyed at the my line of sight right in the middle being obstructed.  So now I have P3D on the left window and I'll move the GPS or other windows to the right monitor to use it that way.

I do so just fine.. on my nVidia card, I've got a 1600x1200 main display and a smaller, older 1024x768 display as a sidecar. It's set up as an extended desktop under Windows 7, and seems to work just fine...

I run P3D in a window on the main display, and I run other apps (or broken out gauges/panels) on the smaller monitor.  No crashes, no issues under P3D.

If you're running any post-processing things (ENB Series, Shade, SweetFX, etc.), you may wish to disable them while you troubleshoot. I understand they may have some issues with multimonitor setups on occasion.

Thanks Greg.  What you describe is similar to my own setup.  I have a 970 strix card, with a 40' 4k monitor as my main display and a much smaller 17' as my sidecar.  I'm not running any of the graphics enhancement apps you have mentioned..

The apps I want to run are Avliasoft EFB and  Vatastic mostly  - on the smaller monitor.  I'll try different combinations of things this eve and see if I manage to crack it.

Thanks guys

Okay so last night i noticed a few odd things:

1.  When I select the 'extended' display mode via Win+P, I get a warning bubble in the lower right Windows taskbar saying that my Nvidia display driver has stopped working.  I tried this a few times with the same result.

2.  In the Nvidia Control panel, it identifies the 2nd monitor, but says it is connected through a DVI port. My 2nd monitor is connected though a VGA connection (into the monitor) with a HDMI adaptor into the graphics card.

3. I cannot select the display mode (Win+P) functionality through the Nvidia CP.  I thought you were able to select the display mode (extended) here as well.

Not sure which of these relates to my issue, but the first one seems suspect.

Any comments?

cheers

Stop using Win+P - use the Nvidia control panel to set up both monitors. Then just run EFB, etc on the second display. As long as you have "black out desktop" disabled in P3D options, you can run the two just fine.
