What Is Causing This?

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden when I brake an aircraft, any aircraft be it the default or add-ons, instead of seeing puffs of dust at the rear wheels, or instead of seeing plumes of the wash from a float-plane, e.g, Beaver float-plane, I'm getting these square-shaped patterns as in the screenshot. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? I have followed the NI settings as per Jim's Guide/Rob's Guide.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Rick do you have REX4 installed ? I have seen this around the sun and are you using P3D 2.5 ?

I had this w hile back in the FSX days... happened because i uninstalled an addon which removes the default texture for the splash and wheel smoke....

I had to do a reinstall to get it back sadly...

If you have REX, change it back to the default textures as you would have backed them up i guess... see if that works

perhaps others have another solution?

All the best

Hi Rich.  Thanks for the quick response.

No, no REX, only ASN. Yes, P3D 2.5.

3am here. Off to bed.

Hi Rich.  Thanks for the quick response.

Ok Rick - did you install something that caused this - something did cause this if it was not there before ASN would not cause this

From website: Here's how I fixed the squares problem: Somehow the fx_1.bmp file was removed (probably when I uninstalled a third party aircraft). The fx_1.bmp is not only responsible for engine smoke, but also tuchdown effects as well (I was getting sqaures there also). Quite simply, you need fx_1.bmp to smooth out the smoke

I will sen you a PM - thanks

Yep - I think Rich has nailed it. I recall having this issue in FSX caused by an improper uninstall which made the fx_1.bmp disappear...

Can you please re-send me that fx_1.bmp?  I seem to have accidentally erased it. Thanks.
