I have been playing with FSX-SE but I keep going back to FSX, I just purchased X plane 10 full version but having some reservations about it. P3D is parked as I had to many OOM issues. XP10 has been inserted into the discussion. I was only asking about FSX: SE/P3Dv2 as you get the full experience with those two concerning interactive ATC/AI by default among other things. So comparable sims on that level is all I was talking about. I asked about XP10 and AI/ATC and it seems it's still not fully realized. May 6, 201511 yr for virtual airline flying ideally you need 1.Stable computer operating platform 2.flight sim program and scenery and complex aircraft add on (I use PMDG) 3.Weather program 4. flight plan program to genearte routes and some fuel calculations I use FSX:SE on windows 10 and dont have any issues. others may have P3d or xplane 10 and these 4 points are working in unison. They have now created a plugin for XP10 that makes it able to use Radar Contact for ATC. Not sure how well it works as I don't have XP10 but just FYI. May 6, 201511 yr I'll, honestly, be curious about what you think about it in a few more months. I'm not on any side of this discussion and I don't have XP10. Every so often I hear some good things about XP10. I know what you mean, but I must honestly say that going back to FSX/P3D is not really an option for me anymore. The IMO superior overall potential of XP10 will be used by more and more developers. I am pretty sure! B) Take a look at this video (if you don't know it already) and you see what I mean: Does XP10 have AI/ATC figured out now? Can you have virtual interaction at least on the level of FS9/FSX/P3D? Without traffic and a decent ATC engine one may as well be using FLIGHT. I'd love to give it a try if those things are figured out. That are some (more or less) work in progress parts of XP10: 1) AI in the sense of FS9-AI, UT2, MyTraffic etc. is not available at the moment, but there are alternatives like e.g. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/437933-an-easy-guide-to-populating-x-plane-10-with-ai-aircraft-for-new-x-plane-users/ 2) ATC is just released as a RCv4 plug-in (by MCE, FS++). If you have seen the video (link above) you might know what I am talking about. :rolleyes: For me especially interesting is the fact that Austin Meyer "just" mentioned in an interview that he will support 3D-vision with Oculus Rift (being launched now 1Q2016) or any other similar device. I'd think that XP might be less bogged down than even P3D with it's backward compatibility issues, etc. Admittedly nice precipitation effects on the windshield, but with all that red on the radar, where is the turbulence? With ASN in FSX, SE, or P3D you'd be getting quite a ride in those conditions, which would be more realistic. I noticed that too. Movement of air seems to be a problem in all the sims. Yes, that is true regarding the fact that he flies within the red heavy precipitation area depicted by the WXR display. (The WXR tilt is set to UP5° and his pitch is UP2.5° at 4000ft (leveled flight) when he enters the hail part below the cell. So he might be a bit below of what we see depicted on the radar.) Well, red heavy precipitation must not necessarily mean turbulence (which could be explicitly shown in magenta on the WXR, but probably this "classic" WXR really has only an On/Off button and a tilt knob and no other features like WX+Turb) but being under a cell with hail knocking on the aluminium skin there should be at least significant air mass effect on entering the head-/tailwind sections or the downdraft... Perhaps the effects of turbulence were turned off for his A/C for development/debugging reasons? My personal experience inside XP10 with the B737-200 (by FJS) is though, that red echoes on the WXR really "guide" you into turbulent air with rain/hail sections and you have only one wish on your mind in that moments: I wish I never would have flown into this (at such a low altitude) because this is just almost bringing me down and the situation is nearly uncontrollable. Once I had a dual engine failure (flame out) when I noticed that I was flying (at about 7000 ft) in turbulent air under severe icing conditions (TAT around -10°C) for about 10 minutes or so (EDIT: with EAI (engine anti ice) off). I tried to make a best glide speed descent for an emergency landing in a rural area. But the plane behaved like a snowball missing a significant amount of lift. So I noticed that the WAI (wing anti icing) switch was also not turned on and this is how it felt: below approx. 260kt the plane had the tendency to drop/stall over one or the other wing at high pitch (about UP10° to keep a reasonable rate of descent). So I ended up "landing" (crashing) with ALL ENG OUT at about 240kts, 800ft/min ROD and nose up 15° into the country side... :blink: So this was a lesson about using EAI and WAI when absolutely needed which I learned inside XP10 within the first 5 hours of flying. A lesson I never learned in MSFS since 1995... (I used the EAI/WAI switches inside MSFS A/Cs routinely, but this winter storm inside XP10 made the difference.)
