Basically what the Accusim does for the plane is, takes a bowl of already beautiful luscious and wiped cream and plonks a fat juicy Strawberry on top. Anyway, i survived the A2A Sale, i'm a 100 Euro down alright but i didn't buy everything, so ye i survived to splurge another day B) Oh and Rick don't forget to run the A2A Update Installer after you install your last A2A plane. A great little thing, runs around your computer and finds all your A2A planes and updates them

I was too busy over the weekend with UK2000 beta testing duties :smile: I assure you, Christopher, You will get a great deal of pleasure from flying this aircraft. Last night I just did a small circuit around the default airfield in P3D, it was a sheer joy to hand-fly this plane, to follow the FD, to maintain the slip in the turns. I'd bought FTX England and wondered if it was a waste of money but last 2 days I've been discovering what fun GA is and finding out small aerodromes/airfields that I did not know existed----and hats off to Orbx for a fantastic job---with no VAS issues using ASN, flying the ubiquitous Piper Cherokee. Im at the stage where I have PMDG over exposure and I usually deal with this by taking a 2 week break but not this time and I must have put in at least 100 hours in the C182 (already have the cherokee) using Fseconomy and flying ORBX NA strips. I may not visit PMDG for a few months now ZORAN

Bear in mind here that I am a sort of "VFR check the view outside to see where I am going" kind of guy, so a detailed review of IFR navigation and instruments ain't gonna happen anytime soon! May 15, 201511 yr OK, first impressions after a very quick test flight at EGNV Durham Tees Valley...... I started the engine using the "E" key for this, so apologies to A2A Simulations and the entire flightsim community for that. I will learn how to do it properly. Honest! Prior to starting up, I added all of those nice little addons (you know, the "go faster" parts around the wheels, wing roots etc). It makes the plane look cooler, so it was a no brainer :smile: I started the flight with only me on board, and a 50 per cent fuel load (which is what I normally do when pootling around the countryside on short VFR flights). I was expecting the aircraft to pull to one side during the take off run, and I wasn't disappointed. I do prefer a nice straight take off roll, but I'm not going to complain about something that is realistic! I pulled the nose up gently, and I was airborne.I throttled back slightly to maintain a nice, stable climb, and prepared to get a feel for the plane with some gentle rolls to the left and right. That pull to the left was still noticeable in the air, but it was nice and subtle, and easily controllable. The Cherokee feels really nice to handle. So smooth and precise. It also looks great (both inside and out), so boxes are being ticked one after the other. I had taken off on the short runway 01 (which is actually disused these days), so when I got to around 2000 feet, I started a gentle turn to the right so that I could eventually swing around and prepare for a landing on runway 23 (which is 7500 feet long, so plenty of room for error). I throttled back again as the airport came into view towards my front right, and started to deploy the flaps. I wasn't quite sure how far to pull the flaps lever at first, so I overdid it! However, I quickly corrected this, and got the plane back under control. Like I said, the Cherokee is really nice and stable in the air, and it was relatively easy to make the power adjustments necessary for a smooth glide towards runway 23. I actually dropped a bit too low as I approached, so I had to engage a bit more power to compensate, but there were no surprises.....apart from the engine sound. Simply put, I have never heard a simulated plane use the low "bass" frequency sound effects as well as this plane does. I could feel that engine running as it gently vibrated the entire desk as I slowly approached the runway threshold. Really impressive stuff! Then I made what is probably a typical error for someone who has just switched from an airliner to a small GA plane. I flared too high and too much! I ended up "bunny hopping" down the runway, so the eventual landing was not the prettiest that you will ever see. Those acclaimed Accusim effects activated as I braked, with plenty of creaks and groans from the airframe. On a final note, this small plane also seems to handle very well on the ground. I don't get quite the same "increase power slightly and suddenly you're careering down the taxiway" feel with this plane as I have with several other GA planes that I have tried. It seems to have that little bit of inertia that makes it more controllable when you find the "taxi power sweet spot". So, was that good enough for a mini review, Elaine?
