Crashed 10 miles short of the runway

Recommended Posts

I was sorry to see on the news that a light aircraft crashed 10 miles short of its intended destination of Dundee in Scotland. The fatal crash happened in bad weather. (BBC news item link enclosed).

I know Dundee well and it's a superb scenic location..as the following landing approach video shows.  (Note the Tay Rail bridge in the video -rebuilt soon after it collapsed in a storm in 1879 taking 75 passengers and crew with it.).

Funnily enough, a few years back another light aircraft -also heading from near Inverness to Dundee - ran out of fuel and made an emergency landing in a tree!  (url enclosed).
