May 12, 201511 yr I highly doubt we will get the entire world in DTGs new sim. They will sell you the U.S. 1 state at a time.
May 12, 201511 yr EVerything everyone else has said. And if it has been said more than twice, then chooose the one that was said better. Oh yeah, and top of the line highly realistic ATC with the ability to upgrade sid and star often...and a 128bit platform not 64bit. That time has passed....... May 12, 201511 yr I think MS flight its base to work with on DTG flight sim getting a feel with suggestions which approach to take, but I figure Orbx will be in the mix behind the scenes.
May 13, 201511 yr Here goes..... Just thinking on the way to work.. So far, we have had so many 'debates' about which is better.. FSX vs FSX:SE vs P3D We do not actually need another to be added into that mix. We will never be flying, just debating. What our hobby actually needs, & Dovetail will be great at this, is to have an entry level, or 'lead-in' game to introduce or hook more guys & gals into this hobby of ours. Lets face it, FSX is still being supported, FSX:SE has become great with the updates, & P3D has become a very mature sim, with it's regular updates. We do not need the above sim market diluted. What we need is something similar to Flight!, introducing flight simulation to a new market. We need a basic sim, with a few sceneries & planes, controllable with a range of game controllers. A basic range of DLC's to ease the guys into more complex planes, without too much hassle & complication to scare them off. Mission's similar to Jane's for FSX:SE would be ideal. WE need a nursery or kindergarden, & I say that in the nicest way, to get get more people & future developers into our hobby. So, maybe a 3 tier range of sims/games could be ideal.. 1. A basic entry level one - the future Dovetail release 2. A Standard level one - FSX, FSX:SE 3. A more 'Die Hard' one for the simmers - P3D This could even make it easier for the dev's as well. For the DT release, we do not really need 64bit, fancy ATC, high & low tides etc that guys are wishing for. We know thats not going to happen. Lets get back to basics & hope for something entertaining that will be fun for the new guys & a great diversion for the older, more established simmers who want to have fun. Just by the way, if a complex sim does get released, can you imagine the delay & forum postings when all our fancy ATC add-ons, weather, etc still have to be retooled by the devs. & do they have the energy, & funds to support yet another complex sim? It sadens to me when I read some of the previous postings when guys say they DEMAND this thing or that. Guys, it's only a game! Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
May 13, 201511 yr Lets not forget that this is actually the place to tell them what you want in a new sim. i7 7700k, @ 4.6Ghz. GTX1070 8Gig. 32Gigs DDR4 2400. Win 10 pro. X-Plane 11.
May 13, 201511 yr Dear Robin, It seems to me that in every post you make, you feel the need to emphasize that : FSX= game and P3D = sim (for the "Die Hard") we get it. Back to the topic, hopefully DTG delivers a good brand new platform. That can only be a good thing. I'm certainly not looking forward to a " nursery or kindergarten" version.
May 13, 201511 yr It seems to me that in every post you make, you feel the need to emphasize that : FSX= game and P3D = sim (for the "Die Hard") we get it And no mention recently that his game of choice is FS9! I'm certainly not looking forward to a " nursery or kindergarten" version. FS98 is still available from what I understand, and it is a super duper die hard sim designed for training the best of the best.
May 13, 201511 yr Yup, I do really enjoy my 'Golden Wings' version of FS9, thanks, for reminding me, but seeing that this forum is about discussing a new future sim, your comment is really out of place, yet again! No need to remind that the product of a gaming studio is now distributed by the largest games/gaming distributor. Jim, can you keep personalities & personal little 'digs' out of this forum, please.... Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
May 13, 201511 yr I clicked that link to the steam forum that propsfan linked to above, and I was just about to comment on how funny it was reading the arguments that are ensuing over there. However, I find myself disappointed to see that behaviour also happens over here Chris Smith
May 13, 201511 yr I think we are in a pretty deep rut. FSX, FSX-SE, P3D......... Even FLIGHT are pretty much all just FSX with benefits, and we've already been there and done that, one too many times. Good luck to Dovetail in creating something from Microsoft tech that doesn't scream same pig, different lipstick. Would something combining the technology of FLIGHT with the world coverage of FSX really be enticement enough that people would be willing to start all over? I could see a lot of people sitting on the fence for years, popcorn in hand, pondering that question. But what else can Dovetail do with such a short development timeframe? Meanwhile X-plane hovers in the wings, never quite there, repeatedly almost ready, and something always strangely amiss with her attire. Choices. Of course, there is always Outerra, but he is still in school, hasn't decided exactly what he wants to be when he grows up, and maybe needs to be introduced to a comb. Still, he is a promising student and it might do to keep an eye on him. Sorry, its been a long day. But I really do wonder what things will look like in a year or so. will we be excited? Disillusioned? The ball is in Dovetails court, it seems. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. May 13, 201511 yr I'd like to see a FS with a minimum of 30 fps in any possible scenario, when running on a PC that can do the same fps on any other game on the market.
May 14, 201511 yr They need younger generation and DTG target is 80% of users they are not going to cater to P3D group or PMDG they are too hard to satisfy some of them anyways. It's gotta be DLC by state or country I am fine with it if far better than fsx world and Xplane one we look down at. Look at European Truck Simulator DLC with airfields and DLC being airfields and scenery by region. Need eye candy to sell things to younger non hardcore group. I don't mind buying 5 good airports with chickens walking along or ducks moving slow along the pond in Sweden or Minnesota. Sure they will have workshop on steam offer up free plugins and free airfields or scenery the old ways of doing business won't work with dovetail. I don't care fsx airfields anyways as they all off on more rural ones. buildings and beacons moving them like root canal on computer screen. Be like cities unlimited game on steam get free Lego for your small airfield. Just see lots of 3rd party developers going byebye with dovetail that I am fine with because there no quality controls for payware DTG gonna make some of us very happy and others enraged and upset. Can't be things to all people.
May 14, 201511 yr Hey Wobbie, what is so "Die Hard" about P3D compared to certain others? Since it's the same thing you say in virtually every post I have ever read of yours for almost a year, do you ever plan to flesh that opinion out with actual substance? Or do you just expect that if you say it enough people will accept it as dogma?

I'd be interested in the answer to this, because last time i checked, P3D wasn't offering any of the items that in my opinion should be on the features list of a super-badass-hard-core simulator. All I keep hearing about keep hearing about is graphical goodies.
