Accuracy of DTG on Progress page

Recommended Posts

When there is a VECTORS leg in a route, how is the distance-to-go calculated for the Progress page?

Good question, I always assumed it only included either 1) segment distances between waypoints along a route, or 2) direct route distance between two waypoints or destination when route is not known.  Under my assumption, any additional distance encountered during a VECTORS segment is in addition to the DTG value.  I have to try to remember this on my next trip, include a VECTORS segment such as between STAR and APPR and watch the DTG before and during the vectors segment.  Should be easy to confirm my assumption.

Thanks, Dan. I shall be interested in your findings.

I believe that it's an assumed direct. This is why you get that DES PATH UNACHIEVABLE on the LINDY arrival to JFK.

You shouldn't need to load a STAR, either. The CAP8 out of IAD has a vector right at the beginning. Check the DTG between the altitude-based point and the fix after the (VECTORS) portion.
