Some questions about the HP850xp

Another strange things with the AP mode displayed on the PFD:

- when we engage the AP without engaging the YD first, no 'AP' indication is displayed on the PFD...

- when a GS signal is received, the GS indication is diplayed in green without engaging any APPR mode...

But I still don't understand why the VS mode does not respect the ALT set on the FGP...

Is it the the real behavior to have to set the selected alt then use the pitch knob to ajust the vs rate?

There's nothing about how this addon's autopilot behaves that's "real behavior".

 

With a real Pro Line 21 any time you have a vertical mode active, there is always a target altitude to be captured. Always. The Alt knob would only change the target altitude. The ALT button would only capture the aircraft's current altitude. The VS button would track a vertical speed. The wheel on the FGP would allow you to adjust the vertical speed.

Thanks you guys for explications about the VGP mode, I'll sleep less stupid tonight.

 

Also I've tried to tweak the autopilot section of the aircraft.cfg file in order to get the GS/FLC vmode working properly.

I've found some values which seem to be working fine for default FSX aircrafts, and they also seem to be perfect for the hawker:

//gs_integrator_control=0.260000

//gs_derivative_control=0.000000

//gs_integrator_boundary=0.700000

//gs_derivative_boundary=0.000000

gs_proportional_control=14.0

gs_integrator_control=0.65

gs_derivative_control=0.00

gs_integrator_boundary=0.70

gs_derivative_boundary=0.00

 

Now, they are no more lag using the FLC mode and the autopilot follow the GS path successfully.

Maybe these values have to be adjusting finely but this is better anyway.

I think this rendition of the Hawker will cruise around quite happily without the pumps going until it runs out of gas.

 

From the Pilot Training Manual, the electric pumps are ON for all normal operations, so for shear realism, yes, they stay on for the whole flight. Apparently the centre tank fuel cannot be transferred to either main without at least one of them working, although this feature is not modelled either... See autogyro's post about that, there is a suggestion for a mod to one of the XML files and he uses this feature as an example.

On the real aircraft, fuel boost pumps would normally be turned on before engine start, and left on until after shutdown, but I don't believe it makes a difference one way or the other in the Carenado emulation.

 

By contrast, the ignition switches on the real aircraft do NOT have to be switched on for starting. The igniters will fire automatically during the start sequence until the engine is stabilized at idle.

 

The main purpose of the switches is to provide continuous ignition for flameout protection during takeoff and landing , or when flying in heavy precip or in icing conditions.

 

However, in the Carnado version, the engines will not start if the ignition switches are off.

It's not meant to make it work it's meant to make it work better. If you have issues with capturing GS or FLC mode in the first place then that needs to be done correctly or fixed first.

I really can't see what you guys see in this Carenado stuff. I went and paid the money for this Hawker and the only thing I can say good about it is the upholstery in the cockpit is nice. The panel looks and acts like a vintage FS2002 model. I have a 28" screen and I can't read the thing without using popups or zooming, which is not the case for every other aircraft in my hanger. I flew the thing and I was shocked at the sounds. Awful. Sounds like a cement mixer. Good luck on this but I can tell you that I am doing the uninstall for now until someday down the road one of our community heroes wades in and fixes this thing.

To bad my favorite Carenado doesn't work - still hoping they have not forgot about Us
