Staring into the abyss.

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

I might be an idiot thinking about this. If I am, feel free to tell me so...  But as my fiancé and kid are out of the house until tomorrow, I was thinking how I best entertain myself this evening. I was thinking about reading a good book out in the sunshine, maybe while zipping on a nice glass of red. But...

Then my eyes fell upon my installation of P3D. It is actually functioning quite well (Well, kind of. There are some problems with micro stutter now and then, but apart from that it's ok). It's just that I'm still on version 2.3. Much because I think it works kind of ok (it has since that FFTF-tweak I did months ago). I've been pondering for some time now to jump into the cold abyss and install version 2.5.

I mean, surely.. It can't be THAT of a chore now, can it? I have a bunch of planes, ASN Next, ORBX (europe, vector yada-yada) and I would like to save my pilot records (not that I really want to know how many hours I have doing this..). I mean, how hard can it be?

What do you guys and gals think? I usually go by the motto "if it's not broken, don't try to fix it. Hands off you moron". Should I just settle with 2.3 or are there additional performance gains with 2.5? I know lots have happened to ASN Next. Am I missing out of stuff I shouldn't miss out on?

Now, where did I put that cold beer??

Regards,
Richard.

Provided you sip the wine and drink the beer as you go, I can't see what could possibly go wrong!

You will at first be fearful, second overconfident, third fearful, fourth frustrated and finally elated.

Go for it - nothing that is worth the effort is easy.
