Xbox controller conflict with Joystick

Recommended Posts

Just found my Logitech joystick unresponsive. Realized that I had plugged in a USB Xbox controller and it was taking over the aircraft control.

The settings screen allows me to select the Logitech joystick as input (and press Accept), however, as long as the Xbox controller is connected it is always in control.

Has anyone found a way of flying with Joystick while the Xbox controller remains plugged into the USB?

This is mostly a Windows issue.

You should be able to go to the Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers and right-click on the USB device and select Properties, then Hardware tab, then Properties... and disable the device. Enable the device when you are done.

There is a devcon.exe that can do this from a batch file, but it involves downloading the Windows Driver Kit 8.1 Update first to allow extracting the proper devcon. Google is your friend.

Thank for replying rhumbaflapp, but that is disapointing.

The game allows an input device to be selected, it just doesn't seem to 'stick' once chosen. :(

You will find a lot of games out there that will automatically jump to using the Xbox controller by default if one is connected. When trying to play games using a mouse, for instance, I often have to yank the Xbox controller out, or the game will try to use that instead.

After upgrading to Windows 10, the Joystick works even though the Xbox controller is still connected.

May just be an internal device order accident. At least there's no need to unplug now.
