Sudden engine failure / low oil pressure warning before taxi / takeoff

Hello. I recently purchsed the 737 NGX and love it. I've been using it with FS2Crew for BAV flights, and it's amazing!

 

However - on about 50% of flights, I run into the following problem: as I try to apply power to begin taxi, or when applying power to begin the take off roll, one or both engines suddenly fail, with 'eng fail' and 'low oil pressure' lights/warnings. Sometimes the engines come back by themselves automatically, sometimes they just die, and I haven't figured out how to re-start them. 

 

I am starting every flight from cold and dark using FS2Crew to go through the entire start-up procedure and all the checklists. I've even run into this problem doing the various tutorials from PMDG - so in other words I don't think this is a fuel supply / configuration problem. 

 

Any ideas?

Odd, cna't say I've ever seen this. You can use FS2Crew from the short and long turn states as well, not just CLDDRK, have you tried it using one of those two states? Also do you get the same experience if you load the plane up from free flight, engines running etc, and trying that way. Just to test if you get the same experiance

Hi, txs for the response. Yes, I have gotten the same error when starting out from short turn states. 

 

I have not tried loading the plane up from free flight - actually not quite sure how I'd do that...

Just go to free flight, pick the plane airport etc, click start. You'll start with the engines running ready to go

The tutorials are highly recommended.  Forget about FS2Crew until you are familiar with the aircraft then have fun with it.

Do you have a hardware throttle quadrant - CH or Saitek? If so, are any of the levers assigned to the mixture control axis? (Typically used when flying Pistons or turboprops).

 

That can cause your symptoms. If a hardware mixture axis is assigned, and gets bumped, even a little bit, while advancing the power levers, it can have the effect of momentarily shutting off the fuel control levers in the NGX. If this is the case in your FS setup, try temporarily removing any hardware mixture control axis assignments in the controls menu before flying the NGX.

Sorry, brain fart; for some reason thought he meant 'free flight' as in starting out with the plane in the air or something. Although I should mention that the problem has -not- ever shown up while in the air - only when I increase the throttle for taxi or takeoff.

 

Yes, I have indeed started out directly from the 'free flight' menu (airport, plane on active runway, etc). Many many times. And yes, same engine failure problem. And yes, I've done the tutorials, and yes, I'm rather familiar with the airplane. I also initially thought there might be an issue with the fuel mixture - I did have a setting for it on my Saitek yoke - but even after removing that from the control settings I was still getting the same problem. 

 

I guess I could try a reinstall of PMDG to see if that fixes it. I don't get the problem on the PMDG 777, FWIW.
