I gotta agree with the people defending SimMarket - a business can't take actions like dropping sales of all products because of a single accusation that is still undergoing investigation and resolution. If I go to Ford and claim they stole my idea for a part on one of their cars, do local dealerships have to stop selling Ford cars? It sounds totally ridiculous when you scale it up to that level, but that's exactly what I see going on here with these calls for Simmarket to drop all DSB products. This kind of charade would cripple an economy if it happened regularly in all industries. If Ford did in fact steal my idea and it was provable, they'd be held accountable in court and punished. If a consumer chooses not to buy a Ford vehicle because of this, that's completely their perogative and I'd even support it, but a local dealership had nothing to do with the theft or any of it - why should their business be punished for the actions of someone else? Also Joe, how much money do you realisticly think Simmarket could have even made off this in those 4 days if that was their nefarious ulterior motive? DSB Design isn't exactly a household name like a PMDG or a Dreamfleet and honestly this thread is the first time I've ever even heard of them. On top of that, it's a military aircraft, which interests an even small subset of FS users than the regular GA or airliner addon. I'm very much inclined to believe that Simmarket was either A. taking time to properly investigate the issue, or B. away at the IFC Blackpool, or (gasp!) both. If after this all plays out Simmarket decides to discontinue sales of all DSB products, that's perfectly fine - what I don't think is fine is for people to sit here and claim that Simmarket has somehow done something wrong or is responsible for the piracy. They pulled the questionable product and that's all I see an obligation for them to do. Going beyond that is totally up to them, not some armchair business people on a forum.

>Does it tripple my surprise now that you posted it thrice?>;)sorry, the site locked up on me and I hit the refresh button a few times...sorry all, it was an accident

I understand someone being upset because they're charging money for something you created for free, it's happened to me, not FS related but my free tutorial in another endevor ended up on ebay for sale. However, if someone makes something for DSB, and the creator signs something saying that it is all original, how would DSB know it wasnt? Now, since it was brought to their attention they should have replied with a "we'll investigate your claim" kind of thing and then it should have been check into and a replacement gauge made with an update made available with an appology and that should have been it.After that, if DSB decided to not use that contributer again or continue to use him/them then thats their buisness and asking for a refund for those that bought it is a joke and I know I wouldnt give it. A patch replacing the gauge and an appology to the original author is enough.SimMarket should also not react until the claim is investigated and proven to THEM.Both of these threds have reached a rediculas level over a game/sim.

Ryan,Well said, sir.Dan

Well, as long as the bar is open, I'll take a Captain Morgan's and Coke, with a lime twist, and a splash of Parrot Bay Coconut Rum set to Jimmy Buffet tunes in the background. :-)Of course someone will most likely come along and claim I have an agenda against BEER :-beerchug or something stupid like that, but hey trolls are trolls... :-lol :-lolInteresting how there are no Hijack complaint posts about the alcohol topic. You're right, I mis-typed. He asked that I not talk about simmarket anymore and I should have stated I wouldn't talk about them. Instead I said I would limit it to DSB. I apologize. So I'm Changing My Drink to a Dewars Scotch on the Rocks, & a Bailey's Irish Cream on the Rocks Chaser...
As of Wednesday July 13, 2005 17:08 AEST. We at DSB Design / Sigma Simulation Products have approached Mr. Barendregt with a way to settle this matter privately. This is not an admission of guilt. The offer is being made simply out of courtesy to Mr. Barendregt. At this time, we will make no further comment as to allegations made by other parties.
Short and easy solution to all this is to release the 'Harrier' as freeware!Making sure it dosen't happen again?Dave T. .........On the lovely warm Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/

What a crock of sh**. DSB and Sigma Simulation Products are admitting guilt, otherwise they'd fight it.I for one will never buy from DSB / Sigma Simulation Products and will encourage other people not to, just out of principle.RealAir Simulations, on the other hand, are an example of real professionalism. They deserve every penny they get from me.James
