FSX CFG

Recommended Posts

Hi gents,

I have just been watching frooglesims video on youtube on how to configure your cfg file to make fsx look & run better. In the video he says delete your cfg completely as when fsx restarts it will make a new cfg file on startup, to which you can tweak fsx until you get it to run as you want. Kostas guide to tweaking says the same, regarding deleting this cfg file

So following frooglesims & kostas guide,I have just deleted my cfg file, but when i look for it after startup where i deleted it from, its not there, the file hasn`t been rebuilt. Can someone please advise me what i am doing wrong.

Maybe restore your backup?

Mmmm, download "Everything" , a desktop search engine from www.voidtools.com & do a search for fsx.cfg. It should be found then.

Hello Tweedy,

If FSX works, then there must be an FSX.cfg . This file is per default 'hidden' so you have to unhide the files to see it.

My advise : before deleting such an important file, be sure you did make a backup.

Succes,

Ben

A lot of people delete the fsx.txt file instead of fsx.cfg. The .txt file is put in the same folder as the FSX.cfg whenever you have a crash or have a problem with FSX. It was supposed to be used by Microsoft if you had a problem with FSX and the .txt file would be sent to Microsoft techs so they could figure out why you had a crash. So, make sure you delete fsx.cfg.

The AVSIM FSX Configuration Guide provides information on the FSX.cfg and the AVSIM CTD Guide provides even more information to help you delete this file, restart fsx, and the file will be rebuilt..
