Yessir, just an old trick i learned a few years ago, don't know if it makes any sense nowadays but it won't hurt either.I'd also go into Spotview, zoom out much as possible, and slew up to say 30K ft and see what happens.Mind you, this only with 'demanding' photoreal scenery.>and how exactly do you 'choose 285 miles AGL'?
July 21, 200520 yr >By turning off ETT I can fly at ~250 kts and still always get>the highest resolution :)Mmmm, sounds like a mirakel to me,JimmyG, tell that to Jeroen!:-hah What altitude are you flying, or doesn't that matter ? What photoreal scenery are you talking about ? Or just *any* photoreal scenery ? I never use ETT but i sure get the low res mipmaps if i go anything faster as 150 kts. England&Wales VFR,Mega Sceneries/cities, France VFR Paris, Netherlands VFR, doesn't matter. Any other 'tricks' apart from not using ETT ? cheers,Jan
July 21, 200520 yr Received and installed my own copy of VFR Netherlands now! :) But... whatever I do, I can't get rid of the lowres textures... :( I tried all the tricks in the book, but after a minute of flying at 140 kts I'm already above lower res textures. The only tip I didn't try yet is tweaking the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT. I'm going to try that tonight, but afaik it doesn't do the fps any good.In the meantime, I've unchecked ETT and assigned a key to Refresh Scenery (Shift-T). Now everytime I'd like to see high-res textures I press Shift-T and the high-res textures are loaded. Still, this is far from perfect because this takes about 30 to 40 seconds (if I had ETT still on this would take minutes everytime!) But this is FAR from perfect of course... :(O yes, another trick I'm going to try is to set LOD_TARGET_FPS to a very low figure. Afaik this option sets the minimum fps after which FS starts to drop things in order to stay above that set number. Textures are the first to go, so maybe setting LOD_TARGET_FPS to 10 or even lower will help. (I've got the fps-slider at 29 now, so automatic LOD_TARGET_FPS is 20, which means that when my fps gets under 20 FS will start to stop loading textures, in order to keep fps above 20.)
