Just to chime in here, any ETA on this yet? :) The anticipation is killing me.

Another question: Does the 747V2 will have "auto step climb" like 777?

If the NGX has it and the 777 has it, I'm not sure why we'd drop a function. Barring development snags, I don't see why not.

???

As mentioned in the video (paraphrasing):

"We can't tell you when it's going to be ready, but we can tell you that on release day it will be complete."

Kyle, can you do us a favour please?

On release day for the 744v2 - can you please IM each of the forum members asking for if they've bought/installed it yet?

Then ask them again every 6 hours.

You can include me in that - as a "recovering ETA addict" ;)

Have a great day.

Maybe I'm blind, but I never see in those years any option on FMC for 737NGX which say like on 777 "Auto step Climb - Yes/No". Can you explain me better how the 737NGX makes the auto step climb, because when I programm the FMC I insert the cruise Alt (for ex. FL370) and the plain remain there for the hole flight untill reach the TD, doesn't climb or indicate another step climb  in progress page. :o

The NGX doesn't have it. But the 744 is long-range just like the T7.

So it has or not?

No, you need to step climb yourself

Chris

To widen the market to people with a limited amount of time I bet V2 has time compression, auto step climb, and automatically closes the crossfeed valve when the fuel tanks have an equal amount of fuel.

Hmm maybe you're right, it would make sense to bring in some of those features from the 777, although I guess a lot of 737 flights are quite short so less of a demand

Just watched the excellent ITVV Virgin Atlantic 747-400 DVD. Boy, what an excellent tutorial job the captain, Capt Alan Carter and his FO, do as they meticulously explain everything in fine detail from Briefing at Heathrow to landing in San Francisco. It most certainly was worth availing that Father's Day offer.

Cannot wait for v2 to see the light of the day.
