GEX Released for P3D

Recommended Posts

And why is this Rich

My thoughts are any prelude videos are a wise choice to boost sales or popularity - it spreads the word much better than other ways - aerosoft for one is very good at this approach and definitely helps me to make my decision to buy or not - they need to invest a little in a good video maker to promote - especially when another product is in the mix competing - just my opinion - Flight 1 is spotty when it comes to launch videos at best

Nick is not on vacation. He just sent me a reply to a post I put on the simforums discussion under GEX for P3d. I am relucant to post it here for obvious reasons. You can view it on simforums. He is not a fan of these forums and has said so. His response surprised me a little but he calls it like it is. It really does make for some interesting reading about his view on things and particular GEX for P3D

He calls it like he thinks it is. His warped view of the world of simdom reflects his sole view and not the world view.

As the release of GEX for P3D is already showing, his view is the wrong view, the company that publishes his work has a wrong view of the nature of P3D simmers, and their business model is not proving palatable to the majority of P3D users.

It;'s really very simple: Follow the (absence of) money. If their abuse of the customer is the correct view, then the masochists will open their wallets in droves (after asking for permission). If not, then Flight 1 is finished as far as the P3D platform is concerned.

There's a whole bunch of developers about to get their comeuppance. And that is a very good thing for all of us.

Hi,

Wow, what a response from NickN, well that makes up my mind about GEX/UTX... NO SALE!!!.

Any company/individual that can make a statement like "The product is not marketed as a entertainment product and we absolutely do not care what the flight sim hobby people think about that."

Does not care about their base, the individuals that helped financially support/grow said company (in this small market) will "NEVER" get another "PENNY" from me. For me it has "NOTHING" to do with the cost of an item, I've spent over six figures on flight sim... It's that attitude, don't need it and will not support it financially.

I run a small business myself. I would never dare to speak to any potential customers in that style.

Getting a little tired of waiting on land class, how long has it been?

That was my thought until I purchased UTX 2.x for USA (It was a cheap upgrade). Unless one is looking at individual roads and recently sprawled suburban areas, the differences in LC between the defaults and UTX aren't that noticeable. I posted a few screen shots in comparison a while back. Land usage has changed over the 10+ years. The NA land class GIS dataset is now very accurate, but to me, this may end up being like worrying about either the modeling of the pilot's face in the aircraft or the detail of the AI models. At some point, the improvements are just random eye candy.

ORBX made the biggest improvement with FTX Global, since its textures are in my opinion superior to either the default or GEX. Whether FTX Global LC NA will be a big improvement  in immersion remains to be seen.

Please keep in mind GEP3D is currently a soft launch too

we have not made a official announcement to the wire services or Lockheed Martin yet. That will happen probably next Friday

This recent quote from Nick N. should address nels161's post # 29 in this thread.

NickN reminds me of  "Gerald Ratner" a jewellery tycoon who thought he was far too important to worry about offending his customers or cared what they thought ...330 shops soon closed and the company went bust.

That blunder of a post will haunt him.

Same here, I own a small lawn care company in Ontario, I've had to deal with people that I could never make happy and I wouldn't dare speak to them like that, that stuff gets around you know?

Thinking the time it has taken to bring US LC  to market may mean they are going to do a good job on it and it has taken a lot longer than anticipated by them to deliver - so me thinks it will be great and I cant wait - wish they would post something for us to see how nice it will be

There is a line in the GEX GUI for P3D that reads: Upgrade UT for Canada---/located/enabled for P3D

Does this mean UT for Canada will now work in P3D? or is it UTX for NA?
