Was just about to hit the pre-order button for: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150727&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=IGNEFL061815&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL061815&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL061815-_-EMC-061815-index-_-DesktopGraphicsCards-_-14150727-S0A

and use it in my flight sim test PC ... Then I saw this for a spec listing

HDMI 1.4a

Ugh ... why oh why would AMD do this for a 4K card?

Cheers, Rob.

Is that what they are calling the furyX? I read somewhere that the new 3xx series are just a minor refresh of the 2xx series. Isn't there better bandwidth going thru the displayport vs. The HDMI?

Yes

DisplayPort 1.2 = 21.6 Gbps

HDMI 1.4a = 10 Gbps

HDMI 2.0 = 18 Gbps

HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 will work for 4K 60Hz.

Cheers, Rob.

As if we needed any other reasons not to use AMD, can't figure out their logic on that one. Thanks for the specs!

For those that prefer single GPU solutions and have DisplayPort 1.2 it'll certainly be worth investigating ... I'm still curious and the price is right.

Obviously no Crossfire support for P3D.

Would be great to get feedback from someone that is going this route.

Cheers, Rob.

Also, Rob, I believe the 3XX series is NOT the new Fiji chip release. Only the Fury series is. The 3XXs are just minor tweaks to the 290 architecture. The plus side of the Fury series is supposedly blinding throughput from the new memory configuration. The drawback is they're all limited to 4GB right now. The new R9 Fury X, though, is liquid-cooled and only half-length. So that's interesting.

Question, as always, will be, is P3D just generically ill-matched to AMD?
