Harald, like most photosceneries, also this one offers only one season. Btw, Messerschmitt designed a successor plane to the 109, the Me 209, that did away with most of the shortcomings , but at that time it was decided, ressources were as you already said stretched, to concentrate on the FW190 instead, which wasn't a bad plane at all. 

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds
