First time ever that I don't understand what has gone wrong with the pc and Win 7.  Everything was working fine until I disconnected the various devices to move the pc to another location.

After connecting all the devices again, only the joysticks are no longer recognized. Normally, in the device panel a new device shows up when it's hooked into a USB port. Now nothing happens.

It happens with only the joysticks.  If I connect a usb flash drive, or a camera, Windows recognizes it, so I know that the ports work.

I am totally puzzled.

I've googled for possible solutions and so far I found none.

Hope to hear some good ideas.

See if there's anything under "hidden devices"or "system devices"

To view "hidden devices, open device manager -> "View" -> "Show hidden devices".

Does the Saitek panel light up to show the clock time?

the light on the saitek stopped working a long time ago, so this is not a good indicator.  However, I have 3 joysticks, and none appear in it.  The hidden devices don't show anything.

What ever makes Windows scan for (some) new devices appears to be broken.  Windows solutions shows nothing. It's a real mystery.

Do you have another PC/Laptop to test the hardware on?
More than likely if they work on another PC/friends Pc that a reinstall of Windows is in order.

costly mistake.  I had inadvertently hooked up a 12v power supply to my usb hub port, which destroyed all devices plugged in. Oh, well...

Hello Tony,

I recognize the problem and solved it by follow up the instructions in this case by Saitek Admin.

First of all : make a backup of your Registry !

Unplug the yoke.

Go to Start/Run and type regedit.

The registry editor will have a list of folders on the left hand side. Go down into the following folders in order.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

System

CurrentControlSet

Control

Media Properties

Private Properties

Direct Input

Inside the Direct Input folder, Delete any folder that begins with VID_06A3.

Once done, close the editor. Plug the yoke back in and move alle the axis (including throttle) through their full range of movement 4 times.

Now go to control panel/game controllers/properties to see if everything is ok on the test screen.

Çheers,

Ben
