The best place to locate P3D

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Where is the best place to locate the main P3d folder?

I have only one drive (only c)

so the Default place is  C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

what is better-

C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

-or-

C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

-or-

C:\Prepar3D v2

Should work in any folder you listed, some add-ons don't like it being located under C:\Program Files (x86) because of security restriction associated with the folder.

Cheers, Rob.

I'm a very strong advocate of short paths!

C:\Prepar3Dv2 would be my choice. Well, actually it really was my choice! :Big Grin:

Is that your main Operating System FR Bill.   If so, do you have enough space to have all your Ad On's as well as your OS?

Elaine, I have a single 2TB HD in my sim machine, so there's plenty of room! :He He:

I would love to fit my FSX/P3D in 2GB.  B)

I'm keeping both sims on a dedicated drive (X: association for fsX), old 120GB 7200rpm Toshiba. Still thinking that buying SSD just for sims isn't profitable for me. If I must siwtch to another HD, that would be some good 7200 again.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

Leave it to install to the default location, and before installing addons set the required permissions...

It's just like installing it directly in C drive no?
