Fsssssssst - every minute or so!

Recommended Posts

an alternative thing to test would be to enable and use the onboard sound and remove the soundcard to see if that is the culprit

good luck,

OK that's delving into the machine.

I will think about it. As it's new I don't want to go poking around inside just yet, incase it has to go back (for another reason than this).

Thanks

Nigel

Thanks. I should mention that this sound has been present in the same form and occuring at the same interval since I first installed FSX SE.

So at the start the PC was much less loaded and was running frames around 120, than it is now (at <>30).

IT's FIXED!!!!

Turning off the on-board wi-fi stopped it!

Thanks to all for your advice and gold star to JRBarrett for suggesting the wi-fi.

Just shows how great this board is. I didn't think I would be taken seriously in the first place, let alone get any constructive suggestions.

I really didn't hold out much hope of ever locating the cause.

Thanks again.

Nigel

JRB thanks for that.

Is Process Explorer realtime? Would I be able to look for something coincident with the sound when it happens. Or am I just looking at a log to see something occuring at the same interval?

I appreciate your help. This is becoming more annoying the more elusive it becomes.

Nigel

It is indeed real-time, and completely free, as part of the Microsoft "sysinternals" suite of tools.

You can download it from:

Glad to know it was fixed! It was your comment that the problem happened at exact 60-second intervals that immediately reminded me of my experience with the wi-fi card.
