Utx Europe comparisons

I just bought v2 of Utx. I have global textures installed as well as vector and EU land class.

No promises but if anyone would like to see some comparisons then let me know what location and time permitting I will see what I can do.

I also have FTX England so can do 3 way comparisons if it is somewhere in England.

I am presently trying to decide between Vector or UTX2 and already have OpenLC+FTXG.

 

Some Scottish comparisons between Vector+OpenLC and UTX2+OpenLC would be useful, with FTX Global textures enabled.

Harry and Ckyliu, utx includes land class so I can do ftx global with lc europe and vector vs ftx global and utx.

UTX uses more accurate commercial data so putting OpenLC above it would negate that. You *could* layer it below and if, by chance, there were some area that UTX didn't cover, the OpenLC would take precedence. However, I doubt if you'd find that.

 

Personally, I prefer UTX and GEP3D significantly over Global, Vector and OpenLC.

I won't be moving across to GEX on grounds of cost, having already purchased FTX Global, which I am happy with anyway.

 

Vector is a different matter, I haven't bought it yet because I've heard some very mixed things about it, especially in Europe where I tend to do most of my flying these days.

 

I bought OpenLC because I understood it included some new classes that I otherwise wouldn't see, hence me wanting to layer it on top of UTX (so essentially I'd be using UTX in lieu of FTX Vector). But if landclass data is more accurate in UTX, I suppose my OpenLC purchase was a waste  :(  and I should layer it below as you've advised

My preference of GEX doesn't imply that there is anything wrong with global - you should do just fine with it. IMHO, UTX is FAR superior to vector.

 

I layered OpenLC below UTX with no issues. Also removed it completely so I nwas just running UTX - noticed no loss of anything - so I left it removed.

 

Remember, we're talking about visual perception here - I can tell you all day long that the UTX data is more accurate BUT if it doesn't please YOUR eye - you won't care.

 

I don't have the link handy but look for "UTX Landclass sandwich" on SimForums and put he OpenLC in between as discussed and see how it looks. Then disable it and look again.

To be honest, the reason I am getting interested in UTX is because I am losing my faith that Vector is ever going to live up to the promises made. It's starting to push a year since the last update and the next one better deliver big time or I am going to give up on it.

OpenLC, on the other hand, looks very good to me, especially in Switzerland and Italy but if UTX + Global comes even close then I might ditch that too.

Got back today and we are off to a wedding in Scotland first thing in the morning (long drive!) and won't be back until Sunday night.

Is it me or does the global version blow away the global with vector - that makes no sense unless with vector its way more accurate - a lot less going on in the vector version - utx and base global look similar - i am comparing the link photos not ones posted

 

I like global without vector - thanks for sharing this Chris - well done

 

UTX looks nice also
