VFR Photo Scenery USA Vs MegaScenery/MegaCity

Featured Replies

Let's try this again...Yet another question, what exact area does this scenery cover? (Please someone answer this question! :-hmmm )How far south in the San Jauquin Valley...How far north, does this cover Redding and the Napa Valley...And now to the east...would this include the Feather River and Donner Pass areas...>I meant the buildings, streets and freeways...are both>packages of the same resolution quality. Thanks for any help...Darryl

Both Megacity and VFR are the same resolution. Megascenery is a lower resolution. As I mentioned above, both developers' websites have maps of the coverage areas. As I am not familiar with California in any detail, I don't know the answer to your specific questions. Look at the maps:http://www.megascenery.com/vol3-us-full.htmhttp://www.horizonsimulation.com/US/html/f..._simulator.htmlI also mentioned that if you search the www.Megascenery.com forums, you will see several threads where users have compared the two products, including screen shots.Tony

Thanks Tony...unfortunately VFR Scenery does not indicate cities by name (map is a guessing game) and the comparison shots have been eliminated on the MegaScenery website (I can't blame them). >Both Megacity and VFR are the same resolution. >>5. About the same. The Mega packages do have autogen, which>can affect frame rates. So the Horizon VFR products don't support autogen at all? I have most of the Mega products, but would like an alternative, and Horizon's UK and Chicago products look nice. I would hesitate to get it though if there's no autgen. For me that's like flying over a 2D world and isn't realistic, especially at lower altitudes. Anyone who has the Horizon stuff on autogen support?

No Autogen in San Francisco. I am going to get Chicago, but from the screenshots I have seen, there is none there as well. I prefer autogen, but have not found myself missing it that much when I fly in San Francisco.Tony

The coverage map provided by Horizon is unfortunately not very detailed. If there's any airport/city in particular you're interested in, I can check if it shows up in the photoscenery as I have it installed. The biggest differences in terms of coverage area is that VFR USA doesn't include the coast north of Mt. Tamalpais, but it does extend farther to the north-east (all the way to lake oroville and farther east).
