I was hoping not to derail this thread and certainly not to have to explain what being a profitable and legit business has to do with pricing. So I won't!

You did not offend me and I'll just let you remain ignorant.

You can start a new thread in the hardware forum and I'm sure some members will be more than happy to chat about how to build a computer at a reduced price.

I'm confused about what point you are trying to make? If we are discussing Jetline Systems, then how is that derailing the thread. OP made a post saying they are great, and others chimed in with their opinions. Isn't this what a forum is about?

Secondly, please explain how my opinion on Jetline Systems makes me ignorant? I stand behind what I have said. A similarly specced PC on cyberpowerpc.com is just $2600. An equivalent and/or better Alienware was just $3500. As it stands, Jetline is among the most expensive PC builders. If they are doing something others aren't, can you inform me what it is? What makes a $4100 Jetline PC better than a $2600 CyberPower when they have the SAME EXACT hardware?

Again, I have nothing against people Jetline or people who buy Jetline. But reading some of the posts may confuse newer members into thinking that Jetline has something special that you can't get anywhere else. A Jetline system will perform exactly the same as any other system with the same hardware. This is a FACT.

I am more than happy with my Jetline system. In the past I always built my own systems but this time I had it made. The price you see on the website isn't going to be what you pay as they will most always give you a discount. They provide excellent service. They also do allot of big commercial stuff and are highly regarded in this industry. So sure you can build it cheaper on your own but I didn't mind having these guys do it for me. They even loaded up all my software and pre tested it so when I got it I was up and flying in minutes.  Josh

Does this actually make it a better system though?  I see how all of this can be very appealing to some people but as an experience builder none of it makes the Jetline system better than something I can build myself. As a matter of fact, I would argue that for the same price I can build a better machine for myself than buying from them.

EDIT: The $4100 Gravity GTX prices out to a little over $2000. Just food for thought. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zjfgjX

I'm not knocking on people who buy their systems. People pay for convenience all the time. I was genuinely curious why people think that their systems are better than an equivalent system with the same specs? Unless they know something to squeeze extra performance from the hardware that even the hardware manufacturer doesn't, it should perform exactly the same.

Also, people were mentioning that Alienware are expensive (they are), but Jetline has a 50% markup on their top system. I, one person, can put this system together in about 3 hours max, including windows installation. Overclocking the 4790K to 4.6 (a mild overclock) will take me another 45 mins. Lets throw an extra hour just in case something goes wrong. So 5 hours MAX for this build. They are making $2100 profit. If it costs them $100 to ship it, that's $2000 for 5 hours of work. Seems like a pretty expensive service.

Again, as I stated in my first post, it is definitely cheaper to build a PC on your own. That should be very obvious.

Just so I'm perfectly clear, I am not saying that Jetline's hardware or software is superior in anyway shape or form. What I will say is that Jetline Systems is ideal for those who are unfamiliar with the headaches of custom building a PC, especially for a program as complicated as Microsoft Flight Simulator. The guys who are building these machines are experienced, knowledgeable, and simulator enthusiasts just like most of us. If you happen to also have experience and can build a computer with the same parts listed on the Jetline website for a lower price - that's great, you may want to think about building custom PC's for people as a side gig. But not everyone is an expert, not everyone has the experience and knowledge that it takes to build a top notch PC, and Jetline does, which is something people will pay extra for, including myself.

To me - speaking as a pretty experienced system-builder, specifically for flightsim - it's purely a time/money tradeoff.  I'm very happy with how my current and past systems have performed.  But it took me a lot of time and effort to get them built, deal with non-performing parts (lots of RMA motherboards in my past), do the overclock, tune FSX or P3D...  All that effort was worthwhile... but my current preference, when it comes time for a new system, is to have somebody else do all that work so I can just go fly.  In the middle ground, there's a case to be made for having Micro Center assemble parts, or buying an Alienware or somesuch and tuning it.  But with Jetline there's the added value of having the machine built for flightsim, having it tuned by someone who knows the specific demands of a flightsim system, and having someone available to talk to if you run into problems.  Obviously that's not a worthwhile solution for everyone but it is for some of us.  So, different strokes... or horses for courses, as our UK friends like to say...

Oh, I didn't realise different stokes was your version of horses for courses. Funny what you learn around here.

ivo09, while I understand what you are saying, as someone who has always bought and repaid computes, I've never had the need or want to buy a computer. But, lots and lots of people don't want to or can't build their own computers. Therefore, companies exist to fill that market. They in turn, exist to make money.

When people are stating how good Jetline is, they are stating how good the computers are and how happy they are with the service. Nobody says there is nothing better, they can't be beaten, or there isn't another way around it. People could argue that they are getting something they don't get else where. Maybe it's better performance from a computer they bought from another company, or maybe it's better customer service. Of course with exactly the same components you would get exactly the same performance, to don't think people are under a misunderstanding about that

Go ahead and build then.

BTW

They did not charge me for shipping.

When your rig has a Windows, P3D, FSX, PMDG, ASN REX4, ORBX or any other issues then your also gonna deal with that...by yourself...

not us smart folks...we just call tech...

Happy building...I'm off to fly...

Actually not quite identical - "different strokes for different folks" is about people's preferences, whereas "horses for courses" is more about the idea that different tools are better suited to different jobs.

But the intent is pretty close.

Either could apply to this thread, he said, bringing the discussion back on track after a small sidestep...

Greg is a good guy. The VP. Met him once. Former USAF pilot too.

The machine came preinstalled with FSX acceleration, and my first flight I conducted was a simple flight in the traffic pattern at KHPN with the standard F-18 and almost fell out of my chair when I saw my frame rates (averaged 90-130 frames).

Are you from the White Plains/Armonk area???

For what it's worth, I just priced my system at $1921 and I'll benchmark it against any comparable pre-built system on the market. To each his own.....

I felt it was way over priced initially. Then I learned that they provide LIFETIME tech support. Not just to the system and things not working. But to the sim and its software.  Hardware is the standard 1 or two year. Not sure which.  To a person who isn't really tech savvy it could be invaluable to them

This is exactly what you pay for. I used to build my own and don't miss sweating the post beep one bit. :>)

I've bought two Jetline systems over the last six years. One I now use at work and the other is home with twin SSDs and a 4.2 OC that runs everything I want just fine.

Cheers,

Mark

So if you build one for me let's say...I

Pay for your talent and knowledge

Pay for time to build

Pay for your overhead costs

Pay for hardware coverage 1 year

Pay for Lifetime tech support from you for ALL my add-on's

And you let me call just to chat sometimes...how much would you charge?

PS - No shipping fee - ordered and arrived fully functional with all harness and other cables, etc., and ready to go in less than 2 weeks from my order?

Your at $1,920 now, you have about $400 - $800 to cover all above to equal mid JetLine rig somewhat equal to your's

Go....

Don,

Most hardware comes with a 1 year coverage, whether you buy it from Jetline or from the manufacturer directly.

Secondly, your add-ons come with support from the software developers. I'm not sure why you would choose Jetline to help you with say a PMDG activation issue.

Finally, why would you call just to chat? If you need friends, there are free (or cheaper) alternatives.

Your points are valid for your needs

Me

I'm not a IT tech - So building is a complete out of the question stance for myself

I'm not patient - wan't mine NOW

I like tech support - plan on flying way into my retirement

I don't need friends just like making them within the flightsim community

I like them building it for me

I don't mind the cost for the service offered

So no more need to discuss for my concern's just a JetLine client that's very pleased is all!

I've built all of my systems since 1994. I respect the points made about building your own system. Jetline has been around the sim community for quite a while. There is a HUGE difference between an Alienware box and Jetline. Jetline tweaks to flightsim. Think of the countless hours we have all tweaked in out hobby. Most of it has been a waste of time placebo. These guys know how to build a sim specific box that works from the beginning. Key word is sim specific!!! Alienware is not. Like I said I have built my own boxes but Jetline will be doing my next one. I live very close to them so maybe they will let me pick it up and save on shipping.
