Yes...and thankfully there seemed to be few if any posts and power lines etc in the middle of that road, although judging by this photo he seemed to have hit something...

That's a limited access highway which means it's speed limit is probably 55 mph which would be around 48kts. With engine out you want to maintain 68kts which would be around 78mph.

 

My opinion: it was skill.

Oddly enough, the company I work for uses duct tape rather often and you know what for?  Ducts.

My opinion: it was skill.

After listening to an interview with the pilot and skydivers on board I completely agree.  Apparently cockpit communications were calm and succinct.  The Jumpers made a decision not to emergency jump from 4k feet but remain with the plane and pilot and he mentioned having to come in under a power line and then move towards the median to avoid traffic.  His situational awareness was beyond exceptional.

 

Of course, luck involved but the decision and outcome were due to skill.

Only two tools you need:

Duct tape if it moves and shouldn't

WD-40 if it doesn't move and should
