Question on Windshield heat.

Recommended Posts

I have read two conflicting opinions on when windshield hear should be used in the Q400. Some say that it should be used all the time, because it makes the windshield tougher if you have a bird strike, when it is on, other say you should only use it when you suspect icing. What is the correct answer?

Hey Bob - it should be on all the time unless the OAT is above 20C.

'Turn on as part of the before taxi checklist or if the OAT is above 20C turn on as part of the after takeoff checklist'

'Turn off as part of the after landing checklist'

Hope that helps,

Ben
