Hornet update today for Stable Version.....

F/A-18C

  • Second (third, fourth) client now can be spawned on 2nd (3rd, 4th) catapult when 1st CAT is busy
  • Radar in STT mode will not jump to another target without players action
  • Radar SIL and STBY modes realized
  • S (single) and R (Ripple) weapons loading options added
  • Selected A/A weapon is no more displayed on radar page in RWS mode
  • Night vision goggles added
  • COMM: Manually entered frequency will no more appears in channels settings
  • Random crash when F/A-18C spawned on carrier catapult in multiplayer fixed
  • Carrier ICLS system realized
  • Radar: roll and pitch stabilization system improved when user changes elevation by discrete button commands

Interesting! Its comming along now, great!

RWS designate locks to target, but radar DDI still shows mode as RWS and not STT, but its definately STT. Perhaps that will be added with TWS, VS and the modes (PRF etc). Then IFF would be nice, but it takes time to include these features. AMRAAM will need the ability to use TWS to target multiple targets...should be fun! ( and even things up against the supermen who fly the AI Migs, they never miss!)

For now I would just like to re launch from the cat after a trap. The cat wont work for me no matter what I try. So landing after or during a mission means end of mission and a trip to the mess. Steering on deck is a slippy slide affair and the wingman, after landing, taxies to the stern, shuts down, inserts the chocks, (very nice) but then floats up and down off the deck, (not nice) which looks like the AI model not recognising the rise and fall of the carrier deck?

Its a labour still in progress, but she's getting more glamorous by the week.

Wish list.

Carrier re launch from cat. (+Ability to populate parking positions with carrier aircraft)

Lantirn, FLIR, TV, LST. (Black hot/White hot and TV contrast adjustable)

TWS, VS, PRF. Radar modes.

AMRAAM, JSOW, ALCM, JDAM, LGBU's and most important, Harpoon and HARM!

Helmet Mounted Sight with full off boresight targetting.

Placeholder DDI modes implemented, including fuel required to next waypoint and ETA.

IFF modes

RWR modes displayable on HUD from mode switch on ECM page.

Best regards

David

**update** from Matt........

"This past week we introduced the AIM-120 for the Hornet. Implementation is still very preliminary. However, for the 15 August update, we plan for it to be complete with the following:

1- Guidance times (HUD and RADAR) for ACT and TTG.
2- Correct visual mode with cage/uncage function, SL time, and correct off the rail guidance.

On a related matter, our missile engineer is currently focused on the AIM-7, but following that, he will re-visit AIM-120 guidance laws and flight dynamics.

Also on 15 August, we plan to implement the AIM-9X Block I, minus the JHMCS (coming afterwards).

Thanks!

***UPDATE from Matt***
"
This week we will probably release a new update to the AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile (AMRAAM) that includes the following:

ACT and TTG times. When an AIM-120 is still on the rail, it will display its expected time in seconds to active (ACT) below the tactical area of the radar display. Once launched, the ACT time will appear on the HUD, and once the ACT time has reached zero, it will change to Time To Go (TTG) until impact time. Zero TTG indicates missile time out / target impact.

Once the missile is active, you can dump the radar lock and allow the missile to continue the intercept itself.

Below the missile triangle fly-out symbol on the radar display, the time to active will first be displayed and then an “A” once the missile is active.

Pressing the Cage/Uncage button, you can toggle the AIM-120 to VISUAL mode when a target is locked (STT) on the radar. The TD symbols will still appear, but the NIRD circle and its indications will be removed when in VISUAL mode with a designated target.

To use VISUAL mode, simply place a target within 10 nm inside the dashed reticle on the HUD and let ‘er rip. The missile will come off the rail in HPRF (maddog) and will attempt to lock and guide on the first return it finds. Be careful with any friends in your forward quarter

Hi Patrick,

Any news on IFF? The IFF function and target identification (29, 23, 21 etc.) on the radar DDI? Also TWS, VS, Intleaved, PRF modes and the Flood mode for the Sparrows?

The Amraam becomes dangerously entertaining when combined with TWS multi contact targeting! "Five....that's five...oh no problem Goose"!

Also any flight dynamic tweaks? Airspeed drop v vertical speed drop when throttle is reduced when in the groove? I wont mention cat launch with wings folded....thankfully no one watches my You Tube channel! 😉!

Regards

David

Hello Charlie,Matt posted this yesterday.....

Hornet Update - 2018-08-12

Lots of good progress on the EW systems this weekend!

Today we added EW HUD (display of RWR contacts on the the HUD), EW Offset (spread out tightly group RWR contacts in azimuth), new AI (airborne intercept) RWR sound, and fixed spurious RWR contacts. Work is ongoing on the RWR contact symbols and modifiers.

We hope to have these in an update soon.

After this, we’ll work on the S/A and AUTO programs, ASPJ, and an update to the EW page with DATA sub-level.

Thanks!"

As The Hornet is still in Beta I guess we'll just have to be patient for all the other systems to come on line.

Open Beta Changes..........
DCS F/A-18C Hornet

  • Eliminated slides on deck.
  • Added AIM-9X Air-to-Air missile.
  • Added indication and sounds for EW.
  • Added FLOOD mode for AIM-7.
  • Added max target aspect cue на DDI (Radar format)
  • TOF issues for AIM-7/120 fixed.

and......

Internally, the AIM-7 and AIM-120 versions now have the improved navigation system. Additionally, the internal AIM-7M now has several significant changes like corrected motor thrust-altitude dependence based on nozzle exit area and atmosphere pressure, adjusted drag and lift curves based on wind tunnel test data, and other changes.
We are now carefully testing these changes before we release and move to all AIM-7 and AIM-120 versions.
Also today internally, AIM-9X tracking was increased to 90 HOBS and flare rejection improved. It’s a monster.
Thanks
