July 25, 200520 yr Actually, last week I made a helipad with 3D grass straws that would halfway cover the wheels of the heli when settling. Looked GREAT, just KILLED the frames :)-Dasher7
July 25, 200520 yr What a strange response.Cloud shadows can help with realism, so why wouldn't it be something desirable?Ray Keattch
July 25, 200520 yr >there we go again.....>>Who are you that enables you to decide what Microsoft should>or should not do over the heads of their corporate>leadership?>>And who are you to decide what users of their products want or>don't want?>Harump!! Indeed, who are we to decide that we wanted terrain based on elevation points and laid out in a mesh instead of the ultra flat, pool table top we used to have?!?! WHO were the ones who wanted realistic terrain textures that didn't repeat over and over??? WHO were the ones who wanted to build fuselage's with 16,32 or more points so they didn't resemble a stop sign when viewed from the front?!?!?!Who were the ones that wanted realistic clouds instead of the "floating icebergs" we had in FS5.1?!?!The GALL of those paying customers to ask for such nonsense!!! I was sooooo happy the way FS 5.1 was TEN years ago.Brother.....David
July 25, 200520 yr >Someone that extra bit 'special' I guess.... and it also>allows them to display their status to the whole world! lolFlight 1 and other companies can only sell and improve their products on an improved FS from MS. If I were Flight 1 I'd take a close look at who is "approved" to use their banner for a forum signature and how it affects their company.David
July 25, 200520 yr well said - customer desire/demand drives development of just about any product one can name - sure it's MS that decide on the final cut, but they're not stupid either.regards,MarkXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1GIG/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
July 25, 200520 yr Good reply David. Where does MS get their ideas for improvements and upgrades for each new version? I would like to think that some of them come from the public. And what better place for the public to express their ideas than a public flight simming board? I mean doh. Hello? Sure, some ideas are way out there, but a lot of them, including this one, are practical, desirable, and may just make it to a future version. This is the place to toss around and comment on these ideas, not to criticize and try to limit them. billg
July 25, 200520 yr Right on! Yeh...let's have some rainbows, but no missiles thank you very much as someone suggested in another thread.x(
July 25, 200520 yr However desirable cloud shadows may or may not be, (1) what's official?(2) they (presumably MS) don't have to put it in. Gerry Howard
July 25, 200520 yr >This is just another way of saying, I want, I want, I want.>>I just never ends. Next it will be bugs on the windshield,>bird strikes, rabbits or deer on the runway and grass in the>wheelpants.I agree with that. While having cloud shadows and the like, you won't ever get REALISM by going down that route. Because, its never going to look like what you see from your own eye. Never.I do get slightly peeved when I see people saying "I want in FS10" because tends to always be something visual. Vechicles on the ground, better looking this, better looking that. It seems that better physics seems to be low on the list :(Its possible to simulate aircraft very well, hence we have Level D simulators, but theres no Level D scenery simulator.
July 25, 200520 yr X-Plane also does this. It's a really simple "hack" and I don't see why MS, being such a huge company, couldn't spend the time to implement it. -
July 25, 200520 yr Ooooo! I want cloud shadows too, and bug strikes and deer and rainbows and this: http://www.littlemesahouse.com/copyright_a...Hotlinking!.jpgSun beams!Spackle:)
