Ok... so where are the trees?

Recommended Posts

I just flew over the Everglades and there are very little trees, is this an artifact of FSX, or FTX Trees? Is there some way I can make there be more trees?

Under [TERRAIN] in your FSX.cfg do you have anything for number of tree/buildings per cell?

[TERRAIN]
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=300
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=500
LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
MESH_COMPLEXITY=75
MESH_RESOLUTION=20
TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=27
AUTOGEN_DENSITY=4
DETAIL_TEXTURE=1
WATER_EFFECTS=4

Just as an FYI, if you want to add the two autogen entries charliearon shows above, the default values are:

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000

While I don't remember for sure, I think the maximum values are 6000.

Thanks, Doug!  I forgot that I had turned down the numbers a smidge. ^_^

Or you could just use the Autogen slider in FSX.

BTW, the Everglades doesn't have many trees in FSX because of it's landclass designation.

I think many Floridians would beg to differ.  Despite the Everglades being classified as swamp, there are many trees there, just not trees that the MS FSX team got around to modelling.  I never personally looked yet, but I wonder if they were included in the FTX Global scenery package...wait a sec, I think I already answered my own question.  I believe it would take creating a special landclass in order to incorporate those special trees, if it's even possible.

I'm positive you missed the part where I said: "in FSX".

I just did a quick test flight of about 20 minutes west of Miami Intl.  There seems to be a good

amount of trees in the Everglades Park.  My LOD radius is set to default.
