Glideslope in ND? Landing problems

Recommended Posts

When i am close to the destination airport i have a problem (a newbie problem)

On the ND i see the dot with the IATA-code.

But i dont see a glideslope for where the direction of the runway - so i have to perform a fly-over first to localize it. Not really a good sollution, specially on the more foggy days.

How do i localize the glideslope (or in any case, find out which direction i shall head into in order to make the runway?

Set the ILS frequency on the NAV RAD page.

I would recommend reading and performing the tutorials available on the PMDG downloads page and here in the AVSim library.

Hi - I tried to enter the ILS frequency from the map of the airport in the FMC, but i got the message that it was an unvalid entry // i was not able to transfer it to the scratchpad. I also tried to enter it in the radio, but it did not allow me to go so low (110.50) maybe it was the wrong place to enter it - its supposed to be added in the fmc?

What airport/what runway/what frequency please.

You cannot add an ILS frequency to the radio stack..... it is a comms radio !!

I second Kenny's advice. I think you need to read the docs in detail.

Hi - i will surely look into the four tutorials.

The airport is ENFG, ILS FREQ 110.500

I just watched a youtube video where i think i might have found the reason. In the NAV RAD page of the FMC it seems i have to add a slash after the frequency and add the heading. I dont quite know what heading - the same heading as the flightplan says?

Still - i need to check out the tutorials. I have downloaded them but i am not quite sure how to load the files added.

According to my charts ENFG does not have any ILS approaches at all. It has a localiser approach for runway 33 (that means no glide slope). There are also a NDB approaches for runways 33 and 15.

Better brush up on hand flying the Queen !!
